“change their minds once they start making decent money and feel the bite of the tax man.”
Don’t count on it! As a retired musician, I have many liberal friends. A few years ago I was talking with an old drummer friend about taxation. He’s 20 years younger than me. I asked him how much he made at his day job. He said, “I take home blah-blah dollars.” I told him I wasn’t asking how much he took home, I was asking how much he actually made. Totally confused him! I got him to look at the before taxes amount. Then I got him to carry a notebook, and write down and total up how much he paid in taxes on his everyday purchases plus the amount taken from his “true” paycheck. After a week, he was pretty freaked out!

Yeah, this poll is a pile crap. Absolute crap. Anything from Stanley Greenburg is meant to sway opionion left, not to gather factual opinion.

...who are disenchanted with the republican party because too many Republicans are too liberal.

Seems to me the tide has shifted since the last six months of 2006 (when the GOP was pummelled day and night by the slanted media) on every issue, from global warming to Katrina, to the war on terror in Iraq, to Foley's picadillos.

Can't put my finger on it, but suffice it to say that the youngsters who hang around my home are now ridiculing the Democratic looney leftists.

Nothing like the Democratic threat of gas 'rationing', forced national 'welfare healthcare' on all, or some victories on the Iraq battlefield -- to boost the esteem of the Republican vision of America.

Hillary, Edwards and Obama Hussein are so smarmy that even the class-envy liberals are embarassed.

The youth of today has been “brainwashed” by youth-oriented liberal media and liberal blog sites to believe that republicans can’t do anything right and that democrats always have the answer. This is why you see majorities for the democrats on issues like terrorism (Tail between legs and run away) or taxes (More and more please). They just have an automatic reflex nowadays to spite republicans in everything, even if they know we are right.

But, I don’t think young people really believe much in democrats either. I think most kids are disenchanted with the ENTIRE POLITICAL SYSTEM. This is where you get the term “south park republican” and most of ron paul’s fan base.

They arn’t necessarily against conservative principles, they just have been conditioned, by jon stewart or environmentalists, etc, to believe GOP politicians in particular are the evil ones.

I’m not young but i’m disenchanted with both parties. I reckon I just don’t trust politicians. R’s have a lot more decent members and aren’t as bad politically but neither party is doing a great job.

It usually takes a crisis which will stimulate the afflicted with an opportunity to reevaluate the liberal principles their "unsuccessful" life has been based upon. The degree of dillusion can be great. Some may never recover.

This would mean we Christians are ‘victims’ ,just like some minority’s we condemn .

I think the thanks go to complacent Christians nd Jews who indirectly finance this evil . We are 85% of the population and 90% of the ones who kids buy this crap . Violent games , videos , music and movies . If we didn’t allow this in our homes, it would not have been profitable enough to keep MTV and others alive.

Silence is acceptance and we are the most silent generation of believers in the history of this nation . So lets thank ourselves instead ! I am more mad at us than them .

We allow filth to be taught to our children from kindergarten on up, Sex ed is just a hidden form of porn, imo. It is killing our youth .

I can’t argue with you on any of those points. You are right on all counts.

Thank you . I am very upset with myself for not paying attention earlier . I am grandmother to 11 grandkids .Most late teens or grown .A couple are wild and I can’t reach them .The army against decency is too large and the one for it too small .

I’ve seen more young people working on the RP campaign than others, in fact I haven’t actually seen anyone working on anyother campaign. I’ve had a kid give me a RP flyer while at a red light and I’ve seen another group a couple weeks later standing at another corner with RP signs.

I think kids understand freedom more than anything. When I was younger that’s what attracted me to the Republicrats and then when I learned they are slightly different than the Demicans I switched to the Libertarians, then when they became surrender monkeys I went back to Republicrat, at least I can try to inject some Libertarian ideals back into the grouchy ole party.

Young Americans have become so profoundly alienated from Republican ideals on issues including the war in Iraq, global warming, same-sex marriage and illegal immigration that their defections suggest a political setback that could haunt Republicans "for many generations to come," the poll said.

If we have enough same-sex marriages, there won't be "many generations to come" anyway.

Our experiences are similar. I was a delegate to the LP nat’l convention in 2004 but I’m all done with the LP. It’s far better to work with the GOP than it is to waste any time with the LP.
