See.... here's the problem with the whole "defamation of character" construct the Democrats have tried to build around "Swiftboating".

It's really simple.

If it's true, it's not defamatory. Plain and simple.

Kerry didn't fight it, simply because he knew his personal history would never withstand the light of legal scrutiny.

All the wishful thinking of his misguided supporters will never change that.

Actually that is not true. If it is true it is not slander or libel. You can defame someone all day long with the truth.

The book was very defamatory as it lowered his esteem in the community. Saying Bill Clinton is an adulterer is also defamatory, but he also can't sue for it because it is true.

If no where else having a semester of media law is paying off on internet message boards. :)
