Angelina Jolie is in Iraq to witness firsthand the humanitarian crisis there, the United Nations Refugee Agency UNHCR has announced.

The actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, 32, flew from New York to Syria on Monday. In Damascus, she visited a UNHCR registration center and spend hours talking to Iraqi refugees in their homes.

Tuesday's journey took her to Iraq to meet with 1,200 refugees camped out in a makeshift outpost at the border, because they are unable to leave the country. She also witnessed dozens of Iraqis crossing into Syria.

"I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to the humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners," Jolie said in a statement. "My sole purpose in both countries is to highlight the plight of those uprooted by the war in Iraq."

Maybe she and Brad should think again about buying that 25 million dollar house in france and give the money instead to homeless and starving people. I can’t stand that hypocrite.

Geez, think she could at least visit with some of the troops while there?

I'm still waiting for some of our "top' presidential candidates to bother going to Iraq, especially before they spout their 'expert' opinion on the situation. Like Thompson and Rudy, for instance. Oh, that's right, Thompson isn't a 'candidate' yet is he?

The humanitarian refugee crisis coming out of Iraq is going to be a major problem that this administration needs to get ahead of. Over 100,000 Iraqi’s have fled that were employed by us, mostly translators, the ones that haven’t been targeted by insurgents and killed.

They’ve been vetted and speak English. There’s no good reason why only 100 have been granted asylum here. Perhaps our Southern neighbors would consider staying home a couple weeks so we could save the lives of those who have befriended us.

Tell me she didn’t have taxpayers footing the bill for either her, her entourage or any personal bodyguards.

LOL! Fat chance!!

Listen, if you really want to help Iraqi people, skip the UN which is fraught with fraud and outright theft and try helping something like Hearts for Baghdad, which is a clinic for Iraqi civilians run by volunteer members of our military at Camp Victory.

So far, all she did was tout supporting the UN refugee organization. As long as she keeps to that, allee samee, no skin off my nose.

It will be interesting to see if she also visits the Paleo refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan, while she’s at it.

MAY SHE BE SO INSPIRED THAT SHE DECIDES NOT TO RETURN TO THE USA!!!!!!! but stay and actually help some of the refugees rather than just “observe”..
