Aurora Hires Attorney to See if Planned Parenthood Abortion Business Legit

Aurora, IL
(LifeNews.com) -- The city of Aurora has hired an attorney to determine if the new Planned Parenthood abortion business there is legitimate. The abortion center has seen thousands of protesters after pro-life advocates discovered Planned Parenthood used a separate name to get its construction permits.

Planned Parenthood got around public knowledge and opposition by calling the building the Gemini Health Center in all of its building plans and documents.

Now, responding to the controversy that generated, the city has hired an outside law firm to review the approval process and make sure the city government followed the law in approving it.

Mayor Tom Weisner's chief of staff, Bill Wiet, said Monday that the city obtained Chicago attorney Richard Martens to examine the development process for the abortion center. Aurora officials ultimately approved the building last November.

According to the suburban Chicago News, the city gave Planned Parenthood a 30-day temporary occupancy permit which expires on September 17. The abortion center is expected to open the next day when it gets its permanent paperwork.

City officials hope to have Martens finish the review by then and determine whether the permanent permit is authorized, the newspaper reported.

"If the review indicates that our laws have been followed, the city will be obligated to issue a final occupancy permit for the facility opening on Sept. 18, 2007," Wiet said.

Eric Scheidler, who has been leading the local protests for the Pro-Life Action League, had planned to attend a city council meeting on Tuesday night. He said he was happy to see the city reviewing the process and hoped it would be a first step in stopping the permit.

"I don't have the disadvantage of being a lawyer," he said. "I'm just a guy who thinks that if you lie to government officials, you ought to be held accountable."

His group has already sued the city over another matter -- saying that its police prevented some of the free speech rights of pro-life protesters with strict restrictions on where they could gather outside the abortion business.

Abortion advocates decried the move to hire an attorney and Bonnie Grabenhofer, president of the Illinois chapter of the National Organization for Women, said she thought it was a "waste of taxpayer money."

Over the weekend, the center saw more than 1,200 pro-life advocates protest and pray there. What started as a small group of local pro-life advocates weeks ago has turned into a national movement against the new facility.

“Aurora residents are coming out by the hundreds to tell the world they don't want Planned Parenthood in their city,” Eric Scheidler, of the Pro-Life Action League, told LifeNews.com. “We have already seen the deceptive tactics they used to get into our city and we don't want the same methods used on our children.”

The group has sponsored a 24-hour 40-day prayer vigil that is slated to continue until the abortion center opens.

Only two dozen supporters of Planned Parenthood showed up at the pro-life rally to defend the abortion center. The Chicago Tribune indicated they mostly consisted of members of the DuPage and Kane County chapters of NOW, a national pro-abortion group.

ACTION: Contact Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner and ask him to prevent Planned Parenthood from opening its abortion business. Email positive encouragement to Mayor Weisner at

Is murder legitimate?

So are communists, but I don't support them either. Do you really believe that a corrupt court decision trumps morality? Do you honestly think it's acceptable to kill living babies because it's more convenient than giving birth and going through the adoption process? Have you ever seen an ultrasound? Have you ever listened to a sonogram of a baby in the womb?

If you support abortion, let me ask you a question: Should I kill my infant daughter because she's too expensive? If not, what's the difference between that action and abortion?

Abortion is murder. There's nothing you can say that disproves that fact.

mefistofelerevised never said he supported abortion. He only stated that abortion is legal in the United States.

All Americans would agree the courts can make bad law decisions.

Just because I state the legal drinking age is 21 doesn’t mean I support it.

Some people need to get a grip and not read so much in someone stating a fact.

I didn’t give an opinion. We are still a nation that works on laws. The laws may not get enforced, or may not be just, or may not be moral, but we are not a communists country, yet. Again,I didn't give an opinion.

Some people need to get a grip and not read so much in someone stating a fact.

Some people need to grow a spine and have the moral fiber to contradict people who advocate for the murder of innocent children.

I wasn't arguing against the fact, I was arguing against the act. Get it?

If you can't understand the difference, then I won't be surprised if you can't see the difference between abortion and murder.

Are you afraid of expressing your opinion? I'm not.

You did make a statement of fact. You're right, we are a nation of laws. Laws evolve based upon the will of the people. The only way the laws change is when the will of the people impacts the actions of legislators and judicial activists. The only way to make the laws change is for people to speak out against injustice. Abortion is a grave injustice. Should I sit on may a$$ and not speak out against injustice, or should I speak my conscience and make my thoughts known? How do you suggest I go about affecting change? Should I just accept this tragic "law" and not express an opinion?

You're right, you did state a fact. But you're wrong about communism. There are many communes in the U.S., and they're perfectly legal.

This is NOT the place to be picking fights with each other and looking for trouble. When you do that you are feeding right into the Devil's plan of attack...to cause division in the Pro-Life movement, and cause us to fight each other.

In the name of Jesus, we are not receiving the spirit of divisiveness, dis-unity, quarreling or the like, declare it bound and send it back to the place it came from!! In Jesus name we loose unity in mind and spirit, peace, grace, mercy and forgiveness for each other.

Keep the focus on the real enemy here!!

Every killed child is a tragedy. As a nation, America has surpassed 25,000,000 tragedies, and counting.

I have never met two nephews/nieces because their mom and dad decided they wanted to buy a new car and take a vacation. I still mourn, and it’s been many years since their murders. It’s unfathomable to me that abortion is still legal.

Planned Parenthood may be a legal entity, but it is not entitled to deceive people who have a right to know what’s happening to the moral character of their community.
