Or they could redevelop and deport the current residents to Oakland and Richmond. That’s prime land for future luxury high-rise condo development. ;)

I think it would be better to close public housing. If big business wants to help, how about putting a family in a house in a middle or working class neighborhood ( just one) and help them raise their standard of living.

Unfortunately, HUD already does that with its Section 8 program, which puts such families in middle and working class neighborhoods. These folks then turn what were good neighborhoods into ghettos. What they get for free they do not respect nor take care of.

Wait a minute does RAT-run paradise SF collect no taxes?

They use that money to keep the homeless population as high as possible. ;)

Gavin’s too busy spending City money to get WiFi for the homeless.

“What they get for free they do not respect nor take care of.”

Yep - if you check the real estate ads in the NorCal town (Fairfield) I live in - 98% of the rentals say loud and clear — “NO SECTION 8.”

No not HUD. When the government gets involved, there is seldom sucess. HUD has good intentions but....
The idea would be that requirements would be high enough that they would blend in and gradually become self efficient enough to maintain their life style. I’m talking about financial, educational and behavioral changes.

I don’t think it’s right to “donate” to a damned PUBLIC housing project when it’s already got the government taxes goig to it

Oh come on, now. You don't think that this is a plea for DONATIONS, do you? Read between the lines....they're looking for a excuse to hike taxes, and they're trying to pull people onboard before they do it.

Its for the women and children, you know.

If these socialists believe in it they should donate to it and not extort it from tax-payers.

I'm with you. As long as they are willing to pour their own money down a rat hole, let them have at it.

” I’m angry - I’m angry at myself, I’m angry at HUD, I’m angry at Gregg, I’m angry at the city ...’

He doesn’t seem to be angry at the people who, unlike even chimpanzees which won’t foul their own nest, are actually doing the destroying, though. How cowardly is that?

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom says he is leading some of the city's wealthiest residents on tours of the city's decrepit public housing developments in the hope they will donate to help rebuild them.

It would be more productive to take the poor on a tour of the rich people's houses so that they can see the benefits of having a job and staying married.

An added bonus, of course, being that they will know where to loot after the next earthquake.
