Maybe if I saw the actual email and saw that the little disclaimer on the bottom saying that this email is “for those addresses listed only” had been deleted, I could “feel that this was an announcement”.
“From the FEC Rules and Regulations. Now, the contention will be that Fred and his appearances on L&O give him an unfair advantage of having his face in the public domain, even though it’s not political in nature.”
My question was, why aren’t we hearing this ‘explanation’ from Fred’s campaign rather than supporters on talk boards?
Perhaps it’s not the explanation, especially since we first expected an announcement back around the 4th of July, and that rumour floated for at least a couple of weeks with no clarification from Fred.
Also, not very convincing since there was a FR thread this week about how the MSM TV morning shows had provided twice the time to Dem presidential candidates than Republican, and no sign of complaints to the FEC. A far more clear-cut case of equal time considerations than Fred’s appearing in a TV drama.
The dilly dallying is, if there are explanations for all the rumours that don’t come about, then Fred’s organization should be clarifying immediately, but they only seem to add to the confusion.
“There are good explanations for reasonable people. Those reasons have been put out in interviews over and over again. It gets tiresome having to answer the same questions repeatedly as Fred has. Perhaps you were on vacation. Perhaps you support another candidate and you’re mad at Fred and Fred’s supporters.”
Perhaps you will provide links to all these good explanations that have been put out over and over again? And I mean explanations from Fred or his campaign, not speculation from supporters as to what the explanations are.
I’d love to see them because I had great hopes for Fred as a candidate, but he’s hurt himself and all the spin in the world wont’s change that. Just look and listen to what’s in the media this week, all media including the internet.

I think Thompson has milked this whole ‘will he-won’t he’ thing a little too long. I think it may backfire on him.

IMO, He is “announcing” to the listed people that he is holding a conference call about an “announcement”. The announcement may be (but highly unlikely) that he is not running. Seems like he is “coordinating and managing” his campaign.
And in the end, this email won’t make a “flea’s saliva’s on an elephant’s back” worth of difference anyways.
No I dont but the MSM and Dems seem to be afraid of him so I really want to see them crap in their hats.

A pretty weak reply to my request for links that show that Fred or his organization has actually provided the explanations for all the delays, that actuallyseem to only have come from commenters on talk boards.
Not a chance.
He wouldn’t set an announcement date unless he has something definitive to announce. That means as of right now he’s already made a decision, and frankly, he made it long ago.
If the decision was not to run, then he would have announced that as soon as he came to it, and with very little fanfare, rather than continue collecting money and building an organization, as he continues to do to this day.

Not anti-Fred, actually a supporter who’s just weary of all the nonsense.
For example, Red State says flatly that Fred will announce his candidacy TODAY. Here we have a different interpretation and Fred’s organization is doing nothing to clarify. Same old, same old, and all the spin from die hards won’t change the negative impact this has had, is having.
Tammy Bruce is thoroughly disgusted with it, and is making it her main topic of conversation on her show today. There will be more.

Which is correct? THE announcement, or just an announcement about the announcement date?? Definitely the sort of thing a campaign should clear up immediately.
