Police: Armed robber holed up in Rogers Park [Chicago] bank

An armed robber is holed up inside a bank on the Far North Side, Chicago Police said this morning.
Several employees of First Commercial Bank were believed to be inside the building, located in the 6900 block of North Clark, police said.

Currently they think there is one lone gunman inside. Unknown how many hostages there are. Unconfirmed reports of shots fired at the beginning of the robbery.
Aprox. 10 hostages have been released.

Which begs the question...I own guns...am I a gunsman or a gunman and am I either when I don't have my gun(s) on me?

Is that Hispanic now?
I used to live a few blocks away, near Ashland and Chase about 15 years ago.
Back then, the neighborhood varied from block to block.

Now saying there is one male suspect. They think he is wearing a bulletproof vest. They think there are still up to 6 hostages left inside.

Started about 9:40am CDT
One suspect, armed
They think he is wearing a vest
About 10 hostages got out
Maybe up to 6 hostages remain
Trying to establish contact
Area in lockdown at least one block in every direction.
There is a school nearby also locked down.

Has anyone heard of the string of bomb threats at banks, grocery stores etc. of late?
It seems to be a big trend. Numerous places around the country have been hit.

I post a Breaking News item about an ongoing news event. And, it gets moved from Breaking News to CHAT . . . It is also removed from the State topic (Illinois).
Excellent way to kill a thread.

Happens all the time now. FR used to be a great site for breaking news in the past. Lately it’s all politics, all the time.
Not a good trend.....
