When I lived in Vegas my LDS neighbors would only drink soda that didn’t have caffine in. We would stock Root Beer and punch for their kids when they came over. I just assumed it was all caffinated drinks. Maybe it was because their kids were Hyper as Hell!
I lived in Vegas too,in the 60’s. That is where I went to a Mormon church and we were told to not drink cokes.
