Global warming guru Gore to visit Victoria

Al Gore, a former U.S. vice-president and star of the global-warming warning movie An Inconvenient Truth, will be in Victoria next month.

Deirdre Campbell, of Tartan Public Relations, confirmed Gore will speak at the Victoria Conference Centre, on Saturday, Sept. 29. Tickets start at $199.

Campbell said Gore's appearance was arranged by three students from the University of Victoria who she declined to name.

She promised more details about the event in the near future.

Gore was vice president to Bill Clinton for two terms. He ran for president in 2000 but lost, in a controversial election, to George W. Bush.

He now devotes much of his time to lecturing about the dangers of global warming.

Victorian Brian Gordon took training from Gore to deliver warnings about climate change, and is looking forward to Gore's Victoria visit.

"Most people I present to, they're well aware we have a problem. They just want to know what we can do about it," said Gordon. Gore has solutions to offer.

Gore's standard fee is reported to be $175,000. Event organizers are seeking corporate donations to defray costs, as well as charging the $199-plus ticket fees.

"I suppose in a way I'd like him to do it for free," Gordon told CH News.

"But on the other hand I know that his fees do go back into the climate project ... The money is going to a good cause."

This disgusts me. What do you think the odds are that: "the money is going to a good cause"? Does anyone have more information about what Gore's hauling down from the global warming scam?

I'm not looking forward to this event, and all of the propaganda that will be filling the local papers and airwaves. My only consolation is that the suckers who attend the event will be lighter by at least $199.

I hope the University is prepared for record-breaking cold on that day. It seems to follow him wherever he goes.

Will he be discussing the fact that the CO2 level dropped by 1.3% last year? (per meteorologist Chuck Weis)

My wife and I are planning a trip next weekend to Victoria. We have not been there in ages and are looking forward to the visit very much.

I am glad Al will not be there at the same time!

I can think of a thousand ways to waste $199.00 better than this!

Algore is making a financial killing off the global warming hoax. He's a bad politician but an astute businessman.

That's truly amazing

Words fail me that anybody would actually PAY Al Gore that much money to hear his line of crap.

Even if you are a true believer you would have to be a complete moron to agree to pay him THAT MUCH dough

He’s going to be “performing” in a smallish venue in a smallish market — I shudder to think what he charges to appear in a large venue in a large city.

Naturally, he’ll be flying in by private jet & taking a limo to the venue. Also, naturally, he’ll be buying carbon offset credits to make the whole thing “carbon neutral”. Naturally, he’ll buy these credits from the company he has a part interest in. And, naturally, his fan-base will see nothing hypocritical in all of that — in fact, they’ll be more convinced than ever that he’s a green saint.

I wouldn’t even mind a snowstorm — except that Gore’s already got that covered. Any unusual weather is evidence of global climate change, we’re given to believe.

He has built his reputation on global warming, although I know he is talking climate change now instead of warming. I sincerely hope that eventually it will come clear to even moonbats that Gore built his castle in the sky and then moved into it. Or maybe I’m overestimating them.

By then, though, the “climate guru” will have thoroughly cashed in wherever possible and be looking for another scam on which to make money and garner attention. In some ways I consider people like this worse than those who snap and murder someone. This is cold, calculating and cynical to the extreme. I would not want to be this guy at the Judgment Day.

By the way, good luck with the rain or snow. Victoria is a beautiful place. I enjoyed a terrific camping trip on the Pacific Coast Trail many years ago.
