First of all, there is a 40 ton Gross Vehicle Weight without permits. If ANY combination vehicle of 26K exceeds this without permits, there are stiff penalties. Also, there are specific limits of axle weights designated and controlled by each state DOT.

As an OTR trucker, I assure you, that any Mexican truck that pulls into a scale in any state that does not conform to that state’s DOT regulations, he/she will be paying some hefty penalties and may be shut down or impounded. States throughout the US will be performing heavy monitoring of Mexican trucks.

Regulating of the trucking industry provides high revenue for the states due to fines.

From the American truckers out there, it will be open season on the Mexican truckers. They are not wanted nor welcomed. I pity the Mexican truckers starting in this program. I predict lots of accidents where Mexicans are run off of the road.
