Stop Al's Gorging: The best way to tackle climate change? Vegetarianism
The [London] Times ^ | Murad Ahmed

Poor Al Gore - a man who clearly enjoys his burgers - is under attack:

Ever since “An Inconvenient Truth,” Al Gore has been the darling of environmentalists, but that movie hardly endeared him to the animal rights folks. According to them, the most inconvenient truth of all is that raising animals for meat contributes more to global warming than all the sport utility vehicles combined...

“You just cannot be a meat-eating environmentalist,” said Mr. Prescott, whose group also plans to send billboard-toting trucks to the Colorado Convention Center in Denver when Mr. Gore lectures there on Oct. 2. The billboards will feature a cartoon image of Mr. Gore eating a drumstick next to the tagline: “Too Chicken to Go Vegetarian? Meat Is the No. 1 Cause of Global Warming.”

Really now, hasn't the man done enough for the cause already?

For the record, I find the vegetarian-oriented premise of the column absurd, but anything that trashes Algore is worthwhile. Gotta love the porky pic:

I just wonder how long until the Glowbal Warmenists file the paper work for tax exempt religious status.

No.

Because clearing forests for agriculture INCREASES the effect of greenhouse gasses and reduces the available number of young, fast-growing trees that (temporarily) remove CO2 from the air and (temporarily) store it in the wood.

ONLY if you HARVEST (cut down) the young, fast-growing) trees, and PREVENT old-growth, slowing growing, stagnant forests from remaining in place, can you use trees to reduce CO2’s “disastrous” impact on the environment.

Otherwise, more CO2 (and fewer croplands) simply means more and faster-growing trees.

However, people must starve to death because they can’t eat meat, and can’t grow crops, and can’t get energy to protect themselves from winter’s cold and summer’s heat.

Which is actually the AGW extremist’s goal in the first place.

So we stop eating animals that fart, and eat vegetables instead. Then we fart more, and veganism becomes the “No. One Cause of Global Warming.”

He can pay me meat credits. I’ll not eat meat for a price!

The greatest sink of atmospheric Carbon known to man is a pasture rationally grazed by ruminants. We must eat domestic animals after they’ve lived a few years so they can have a chance to live at all.

This man is certifiable. I’m ashamed to call him a Tennessean.

He’s just another one-trick pony.

“You just cannot be a meat-eating environmentalist,”

So if you have consumed meat and see the beginning of a wildfire you should not extinguish it?

I find the parallel between Al Gore and John Edwards particularly interesting, since I have roots in both Tennessee and North Carolina, and share an alma mater with each of these gentlemen. Both were elected to the Senate running as moderates; but both tacked sharply to the left soon after they assumed office. It's probably what a Southern Dem has to do if he entertains any possibility of national fame within the party.

Otherwise, more CO2 (and fewer croplands) simply means more and faster-growing trees.

The first thing that must be done is dispel this notion that CO2 causes a rise in temperature. Numerous studies show it doesn't. In fact, it's been show to be exactly the opposite.

Insane enviro-cultists should dictate how owl-gore lives. It’s how he wants to rule everyone else.

“Poor Al Gore - a man who clearly enjoys his burgers - is under attack.”

I don’t feel a bit sorry for him, Hillary or Pelosi. All have recently been protested by wackos they helped encourage by their attacks President Bush. It’s their turn to dance.
