OTOH, wouldn't it be refreshing to have a British style election? Their campaigns are only three weeks long!

That would be nice.

Hmm...not a bad idea. I don't think many states have odd year elections, though.

No statewide offices or even state legislator elections in "odd" years but we have city council elections, mayoral elections, school levies, etc. here in Ohio in '07

Has anyone suggested the “Peak Load Pricing Model” as a solution to the “race to the front” in the states’ competition for primary position?

What's going on now will surely come to no good end.

A Lottery, on the day after the general election. The names of the states are drawn to 10 groups of five. The ten groups are then drawn again to match ten dates. Ten days, covering 10 weeks in April, May and Jun.

That will insure each year is different and end this oneupmanship going on. Each year random, the days may end up small with 5 less populated states of huge if CA, FL and NY all get the same week.

So be it. It's my bet most will be balanced and the race will be a race.

2) You can also say goodbye to Federalism.

So, one of the smallest states in the union having a clear advantage in the nominating process is a Federalist notion? Might want to rethink that one......
