(Ft. Lauderdale, FL) -- Gay activists are turning up the heat on Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle. Next Tuesday, they plan to ask city commissioners to reprimand Naugle for his recent comments about gay men and public sex. Meanwhile, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force has sent a letter to commissioners requesting they formally censure Naugle. When contacted yesterday, the mayor said he expects commissioners to go along with the request. Naugle has been roundly criticized in recent weeks for suggesting the city's public restrooms are popular spots for gay sex.
Even though he’s a democrat, I applaud this man’s courage in saying the truth. We could use more people like him in our own party.
This is too funny, coming on the heels of the Senator Craig scandal in the men’s room.
So, should we be concerned about sexual activity in the men’s room or not? Sen. Craig was forced to resign because of this, meaning it’s a bad thing to have sex in the men’s room, right? So why is this mayor being hounded about wanting to put a stop to the activity that got Sen. Craig in so much trouble?
Is it political correctness? Celebration of diversity in the men’s room? I just don’t know how we’re supposed to evaulate these issues.

What a silly homophobic statement. It is not like cops ever catch any gays trying to have sex in public restrooms. Who has ever heard of such a thing...
Yeah, exactly what is it they find objectionable? Are they saying it isn’t true, or that it is true, but it’s their right to have sex in public rest rooms?
I have this horrible feeling that it is the latter. To ban this activity somehow violates their rights to do whatever they want wherever they want.
Guess that means the Larry Craig thing never happened.

And then the gay activists should be defending Larry Craig. Sounds like he got railroaded.

Let me take a “poke” at this. Craig is a republican and for him this behavior is not acceptable. But for the liberals, this is their way of life and the mayor threatens to drive a ramrod between the interested parties....

Your feeling would be correct. They would have us believe it is “part of the gay lifestyle” (then turn around and say they are just like us) This poor Mayor was responding to many complaints by families about this problem, and when asked to apologize for addressing it, he apologized to families instead.............for not having realized how wide spread the problem was and doing all he could to stop it.
He should recieve an award!
Whatever happened to Freedom of Speech? Should we mourn its death?

Freedom of Speech only applies to liberals attacking Conservatives. Conservatives telling the truth on liberals and perverts, and it’s hate speech.
He also says there homosexuals and not gay because they really are not happy

I can’t wait for Chrissy Mathews to weigh in on this one. This was “sexual deviancy” when a Republican was caught doing it.
It's simple: Toilet sex should be encouraged; conservative Republicans should be arrested. Problem solved.
I have some advice for the good mayor:
(1) Tell the truth.
(2) Be prepared to back up your statements with facts.
(3) Never, ever apologize for telling the truth.
Point (3) is important. Unfortunately, politicians are often tempted to offer up an apology in hopes of avoiding controversy. That would be a mistake when dealing with "gay" activists. Once he appears politically wounded, they will go for the kill.
Nope, never happens.
