Because you know perfectly well that the press would spin the trial - not the crime that led to it - as the real outrage, and because too few Americans continue to think. You’d think the Democrats have been beaten and bruised once too many times by the Assad clan, yet they keep on coming back for more wallopings.
Worse part is it shows just how little real power Assad holds in the country. He is now an impotent figurehead, not unlike Qaddifi’s son.
