The corrosion of illegal immigration into immigration as a means to attribute bigotry to those clamoring for enforcement of border laws should tell you what will happen to the term Islamic fundamentalism. It will be shortened to fundamentalism, then used to smear non-Muslims. If that’s what you want, go for it.

I wonder how many of them knew what month the September 11 attacks happened?

The first time I saw H.G. Wells' The Time Machine movie, I wondered how people could become so uninformed and slide so far down the food chain as the Eloi.

Now I know.

It used to be that people feared anything they didn’t understand. In this safer world, they instead disbelieve anything they don’t understand. Creationism is the poster child of that phenomenon.

“the tendency to define terrorism down is not good for the war against it, and conflating fundamentalism with terrorism just mixes them together in people’s minds.”

Very well said.

Christian activist and author Mark Dice dropped by San Diego State University to see how many of tomorrow's leaders know what year 9/11 happened.

It happens every year! It's September 11th for goodness sake! It's not like a leap year!

Of course, there was a terrible attack on the US one year, on September 11. That would be 2001.

Mark

I've yet to see anyone confused as to what "Islamic fundamentalism" is... until now.

If People are that stupid and don't know what the difference between an "Islamic fundamentalist" and a "Christian fundamentalist" is, then they deserve what their ignorance will bring them.

They way you make it sound, is that people just say the word because it sounds degrading, which is true if you are a Christian hating liberal. Most intelligent people know it applies to all faiths and denominations of that faith

Merely calling someone a "fundamentalist" lacks clarity, what are they a fundamentalist of?

fundamentalism:

Conservative religious authoritarianism in all faiths. It is marked by a literal interpretation of scriptures and favors a strict adherence to traditional doctrines and practices.

Being a Christian, a follower of Christ's gospel, you can call me a fundamentist Jesus freak all you want, and I'd wear the label with honor.

A fundamentalist muslim will also be proud, and may even smile at you before he takes your head.

I really don't think people are going to "corrode the term". It could prove fatal. Fundamentalist Christians don't go around killing everyone who doesn't believe in Jesus and refuse to convert. Fundamentalist muslims do.

That sort of thinking is rampant on the Left. I see it all the time.

This weekend, Brian Lamb's interview of Ray LaHood (lame-duck RINO Congressman from Illinois) was shown on C-SPAN. LaHood at one point talked of "a 365 degree turn" when he meant 180.

I think a 365 degree turn would be the same as a 5 degree turn.

“...know what year 9/11 happened....”

9/11 happens every year. It hasn’t happened this year yet (as of this posting).

Seriously, that’s sad. Some people net to get a clue. History has always been a favorite of mine. Some date ring bells with me and 9/11/2001 rings a LOT of them. Everyone that was at least ten years old on that date should know the significance of it.
