Caitlin Upton should feel very proud today. It seems she's not the only young person in America who appears to be a little less than informed. Christian activist and author Mark Dice dropped by San Diego State University to see how many of tomorrow's leaders know what year 9/11 happened.

In the comments for this article, one goofball says that a Christian activist is as bad as a Muslim fundamentalist. Oy!

How about “just as annoying” then? He said fundamentalist, not terrorist.

No, those folks struck me as typical San Diego area students. They’re about average. “Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity.” Or in this case, ignorance.

I agree that too much mental bandwidth is wasted on pop culture.

Does anyone know who won that pageant btw? I feel bad for the winner because no one knows who she is. All anyone remembers from this show is that gal’s funny comments. ;)

Jay Leno’s “Jaywalking” reveals the ignorance that used to be just below the surface of America. Now it’s threatening to scare the horses.

I just saw some movie on Showtime called Idiocy or something like that based on the notion of the breeding rate of dullards compared to childless intelligentsia and how it will lead to a civilization of nitwits. Who knew it was a documentary?

Looks like we’ll always have Jesus. ;)

Knock yourself out :)

I’ll have to say that if you’re looking for rocket-science-quality intellect, the Miss Teen USA contestants would not be my first choice.

I don’t know about the teen pageant, but the regular Miss USA hasn’t been any good since Bob Barker left as host. ;-)

One of my pet peeves about those shows is they obviously try to be PC by not referring to the individual contestants as “Miss” anymore. They are called only by their state name, which sounds a little ridiculous and impersonal, if you ask me.

If Dice had asked those “students” the month and day the planes hit the WTC, he would probably have gotten blank stares.

I’ve caught a few of those 'Jaywalking' segments, but the case here with these “students” not knowing the year, leave alone the month or day, when the world's most tragic and sophisticated terror attack happened, takes the cake!

As for that movie, it’s:

PS: Saw the movie, and it had a good storyline, but somewhat dragged on towards the end.

Idiocracy with Luke Wilson, sadly he was the "smart one", spoiler alert: His big triumph is knowing that crops need water and not Gatorade or Brawndo as its called in the 'movie'

This question strikes me as a little unfair...even if those particular students are probably uninformed. September 11th is not yet old enough to be in the material in history class, and an 18-year-old would have been 12 when it happened. If pressed, Im sure that they could derive the year.
For example, the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal happened when I was about 13, but I could not tell you the year for sure without thinking about it for a minute. A strange guy with a microphone might or might not deserve that consideration. (and no i’m not comparing the two events in anything but their both being relatively recent for older people)

"He said fundamentalist, not terrorist." What's the difference? They all read and follow the same koran and hadith.

Ishaq:315 "It was so criminal, men could hardly imagine it. Muhammad was ennobled because of the bloody fighting. I swear we shall never lack soldiers nor army leaders. Driving before us infidels until we subdue them with a halter above their noses and a branding iron. We will drive them to the ends of the earth. We will pursue them on horse and on foot. We will never deviate from fighting in our cause. Any people that disobey Muhammad will pay for it. If you do not surrender to Islam, then you will live to regret it. You will be shamed in Hell, forced to wear a garment of molten pitch forever!"

Eighty percent of the mosques in America and the West were built and are staffed by the Fahd warlords. They also provide their terrorist manufacturing facilities with their reading material.
The official Qur'an for the English speaking market bears the stamp of the Fahd Foundation. In it, right below surah Qur'an 2:190, the Qur'an's first mention of Jihad, you'll find this passage:
"Jihad is holy fighting in Allah's Cause with full force of numbers and weaponry. It is given the utmost importance in Islam and is one of its pillars. By Jihad, Islam is established, Allah's Word is made superior (which means only Allah has the right to be worshiped), and Islam is propagated. By abandoning Jihad, Islam is destroyed and Muslims fall into an inferior position; their honor is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish. Jihad is an obligatory duty in Islam on every Muslim. He who tries to escape from this duty, dies with one of the qualities of a hypocrite."

A "fundamentalist Christian" on the otherhand, will just love you to death, pray for you, offer you forgiveness. What barbarians...

You want to equate fundamentalist with terrorist? Go right ahead, then. No skin off my nose, being neither. But the tendency to define terrorism down is not good for the war against it, and conflating fundamentalism with terrorism just mixes them together in people’s minds.

An eerie coincidence is that the New York State quarter came out earlier that year. The quarter has the Statue Of Liberty and “2001” on it so every time I see I lower my head and remember that awful day.

Better alert the war room then. They often call them "fundamentalists", because that's exactly what they are. They follow the koran to the letter, which commands them to be terrorists.

Bukhari:V4B52N220 "Allah's Apostle said, ‘I have been made victorious with terror.'"

Qur'an:8:12 "I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle."

Qur'an:8:57 "If you gain mastery over them in battle, inflict such a defeat as would terrorize them, so that they would learn a lesson and be warned."

Tabari IX:42 "We have been dealt a situation from which there is no escape. You have seen what Muhammad has done. Arabs have submitted to him and we do not have the strength to fight. You know that no herd is safe from him. And no one even dares go outside for fear of being terrorized."

And I would say that insstead of creating catagories and insisting that there is a "good, peaceful Islam" out there somewhere, we call a spade a spade and deal with it properly. Otherwize this is a war we cannot win.

I’ll bet the poster was talking about Mark Dice (John Conner) himself. Big time conspiracy theorist.
