California Republicans are heading for a showdown over the direction of the party.
Gov. Schwarzenegger wants the state GOP platform boiled down to as little as a single page focusing on lowering taxes, limiting the size of government and building a strong national defense.
But conservatives say he's attempting to undercut party positions on everything from support of traditional marriage to immigration.
State Republicans begin work this weekend on a new platform at their fall convention. The governor is circulating a letter that calls for a trimmed-down platform. It does not mention abortion or gay rights.
Are you goin as a delegate to this one?
We might as well already have Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown as our Governor!!!
I can see it already. Poizner vs Moonbeam in 2010. We are sooooo screwed.
Gee, a SUPER RINO behaving like a liberal, what a big surprise!

Funny. Judging from Arnold’s actions during the budget battle, he’s following his own proposals.

Every single one of you FReepers that voted for AS verses TM - as we told you & we all got the shaft. For $25,000 a pop you get assess to AS. Only thru Susan Kennedy. She a dem/lesbo. All of you who voted for AS deserve this California governmewnt in Sac that we have. Learn Freepers - Never vote for a RINO. Follow my tagline of yrs past. HAVE YOY LEARNED YOUR LESSON?
When did Arnold change gears?
SchwarRINO
I heard McClintock complaining that Ahnold’s infrastructure projects would be bad for the envir because they used cement, a source of CO2. I was surprised.
I just don’t know who is more stupid - a lib or a RINO. They seem to be interchangeable.
*Snicker*
That man sure has guts to make that statement after turning Kalifornia into a socialist amnesty loving totally gov't controlled state.
Didn't he just raise taxes again to support his health care plan for illegals?

You heard wrong:
Tom McClintock: Arnold can't give us 'green' cement(snip)
Schwarzenegger's crusade against greenhouse gases is the single greatest impediment to the era of public works that he has promised. And the crusade for public-works construction is the biggest impediment to reducing greenhouse gases.
To understand the dilemma requires a recap of the chemistry lecture that Schwarzenegger apparently missed.
Highways, dams, levees and aqueducts require prodigious amounts of concrete, whose central ingredient is cement. Cement is manufactured by superheating limestone to produce "clinker," which is about two-thirds of the rock's original weight. The missing third is carbon dioxide.
Lots of carbon dioxide. In fact, cement production is the third-biggest contributor of greenhouse gases in all human activity, ranking only behind internal combustion and deforestation.
And now the farce begins. Schwarzenegger's AB 32 declares carbon dioxide to be the premier environmental hazard of our era. California's Environmental Quality Act requires that any project that degrades the environment must include plans to mitigate that damage.
Seems to me there were quite a few around here blasting good conservatives when they said they wouldn’t vote for (R)nold.
Coming from the man that has increased the size and cost California government at record rates, increased fees and levies, and wants to increase taxes 12 billion dollars for universal healthcare, this is almost funny. Yeah... almost.
I just love it when someone says I am wrong and then repeats what I just said. That’s a real contrarian.
