Yes, I do think they whacked the surrender pinata and did it well.

That the Constitution somehow requires us to acquiesce to ever cave dweller’s grievance and shape our foreign policy thusly most be on some page I can not find.

You have lurched uncontrollably into reality. There's a tiny bit of truth hidden in your delusions. To wit:
...Dr. Paul's arguments were pitiful at best...

Awww look, he made it flash...come on I need a jpeg of the Koolaid packets as well (since you can’t actually make a well positioned argument). Or do you just save those for the top of the threads you uselessly respond to?

Tickets started at $50 and then were reduced to $25. Students and campaigns were offered tickets first. I had gallery seats and it was a mixed bag, there were lots of supporters for all candidates except for Brownback, but that appears to be his problem everywhere he goes.

Rudy was a complete pig for laughing during other candidates remarks, he should have been called out on it and censured by the moderators the first time it happened. It was disgusting and not behavior that we should expect of a professional let alone a Presidential candidate. I was embarrassed for him. That man truly has no shame.

Whether you love or hate Ron Paul, his supporters' strategy of coming out in force to win various online and real-life polls (a strategy borrowed from Freepers, BTW) is a smart one.

I'd call it despicable. We never tried to influence a presidential primary campaign.

This is a serious issue not some American Idol contest!

Ron Paul should be kicked out of the Republican Party.

Replies like mine and those of many others provide the only value the Paulbearer threads have to offer: humor. The threads are otherwise useless.

That was Rudy laughing?!? I assumed it was some backstage or crowd mike that some producer forgot to shut down. Wow, what an embarrassment. He was annoying enough in the debates by running far, far over his time limit every time he opened his mouth. No other candidate started doing that until Rudy had done it several times and it was clear the moderators weren’t going to do a thing about it.

Personally, I would have programmed the candidates’ mikes to cut off automatically five seconds after the bell sounded, and instruct the moderators to ask the next candidate his question as soon as that happened. Only the mike of the candidate who has the floor would be on at any given time. Granted, if that happened we wouldn’t have heard Ron Paul’s smackdown of Mike Huckabee, which I thought was one of the most entertaining parts of the debate, but it’s really annoying to have one candidate completely ignore the rules of the debate without penalty, and therefore cause everyone to ignore the rules if they want any chance of getting heard.

Further, Paulbearer’s exotic misinterpretations of the constitution are laughably pathetic. You do not know what you are talking about. None of you. It’s sad really.

But hey, sit back, relax, have some Wyler’s and shrimp and rest comfortably in your faith in the Almighty Paul.

Ach!

Paulbearer’s (possessive singular) should be Paulbearers’ (possessive plural), although they are so uncommonly of a singular consciousness as to make the possessive singular appropriate as well, in a creepy sort of way.

Geez, if it wasn’t for all of these Ron Paul threads what would all of you haters have to do? Apparently, Ron Paul only has 1% following, but here at freerepublic, he has a following of 90% who have nothing better to do but look for Ron Paul threads to bash him and his supporters on. That’s a good sign if you believe in every action as an equal opposite reaction.

I wondered who was laughing during the debates. He should not have been allowed to do that, it drowned out our laughing here at home.

In the case of this “study”, what you say is true.

And probably in what passes for political “coverage” you are also correct.

But there is also real “news” stories, and to some degree those are controlled by the candidates, not the media. The candidates can make news, they can get out and do things that can’t be ignored.

A guy in our local PWC republican committee, kind of a shoot-from-the-hip gossipper most of the time, has appeared on the national TV shows more than Duncan Hunter lately, all because he formed an organization to fight illegal immigration, and then worked his butt off to get the word out.

He actually is a supporter of Tom Tancredo, but Hunter’s position on the issues is also stellar. But Hunter isn’t really mentioned much in the discussions about illegal immigrants that happen surrounding this local group, while Tancredo is mentioned sometimes.

I’m a believer that to some degree you can make your own hype. Frankly, the media has been trying to ignore Romney as well, and the reason it’s Rudy/McCain/Romney and not just Rudy/McCain is that Romney refused to be pushed into the 2nd-tier category. He also had money, which helped.

...6,570 references to Rudy Giuliani...

Seems kind of low. They must have forgotten to add in the references made by Hannity.

You are as delusional as he is and Mr. Pot I first noticed your negative comments here (Video)Fred Thompson’s First Ad.

And I certainly don’t think anybody wants to purge Paul supporters, they aren’t nearly as obnoxious and overbearing as some of the Rudy Guiliani supporters became.

Not to play the victim or anything but there are a group of Paul-haters who have repeatedly pinged the mods, trying to get the entire group of Paul supporters here at FR banned. It's pretty blatant.

Well, JimRob hasn't done it or made a statement telling us to go away. He doesn't favor Ron Paul at all though, seems to be a Fred and Duncan guy.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a group petitioning to get the Romney supporters banned as well. I still trust that the powers-that-be are pretty insulated from that kind of campaign.

.....You don’t count Dennis Kucinich .....

The 2008 equivalency:

Ron Paul is to the Republicans as Dennis Kucinich is to the Democrats.

Wild eyed demagogue idealists on the fringe of reality

Keep in mind, a lot of younger people on FR don’t know about Goldwater style conservatism... How many times does Hannity bring up Goldwater? Almost never.

Sure, Reagan was great. However, we need to tap back further is we want to return to our traditional conservatism as a party.

It's one of his tricks, worked often in NYC. But he's finding out that NYC isn't America or the GOP.

As for the Fox News moderators and Hannity, they spend most of their time tapping their wingtips, dreaming of catching up with Rudi in a men's room. It's embarrassing to even watch. And Fox News is the network that has singled us out to be labeled as a hate site. Sean Hannity has made very disparaging remarks about us. And John Lott examined their campaign donations at the FEC and demonstrated they are just like the other libmedia, contributing over 80% to Democrats.

Not so much. There are a few very aggressive Romney supporters who have been pretty abused with anti-Mormonism posts and such. I can think of two who might get banned. The rest of the small Mormon and non-Mormon supporters of Mitt just faded away, sick of the abuse. FR lost a chance, I think, to pick up Romney supporters here. But I know I wouldn't sign up here for a heaping helping of what they got every day, thread after thread.

They were building up nice threads, just to have them trashed endlessly and a stream of baiting posts in the hundreds or even the thousands. While I have no truck with Mormonism, I don't discriminate on theology (except against Islam which is an expansionist totalitarian ideology fundamentally opposed to Western values and which merely masquerade as a religion).

A lot of FReepers won't even set foot on the candidate threads. Any of them. You know, maybe it's just my recollection but I thought that JimRob handled the open primary in 2000 almost alone far better than our current mods do. And, believe me, I don't want their jobs. But JimRob had a kind of tough-but-fair, slug-it-out-but-no-below-the-belt style of modding this forum back in 2000. Not that that was perfect either because he did have to sleep and such. But there was less acrimony, much broader participation. Or that's the way I recall it. Frankly, I don't know how he managed to keep up with it so well back when FR seemed so much busier than it is now.
