Seahawks duo blitzed by Bush backlash

KIRKLAND -- Are you still fans of Matt Hasselbeck and Mack Strong after they visited President Bush last week in Bellevue? Or have their political leanings turned you against them?

The Seahawks quarterback and fullback gave the 43rd president a No. 43 jersey with his name on it at a $1,000-a-plate fundraiser for Rep. Dave Reichert at the Hyatt.

At the time, Hasselbeck called it a thrill and said it was a win-win, this opportunity to meet the president and get out of a team meeting.

But as soon as he saw the picture of the two players with Bush, Gary Wright, the team's vice president of administration, said he was concerned about negative reaction.

Maybe in really red Republican states, it would not have been a big deal. But Washington is a blue state, and deep, deep Democratic blue in King County. So objections were raised, and Hasselbeck heard them and read them. He got nasty voice mails, e-mails and text messages.

"I had no idea," Hasselbeck said.

One guy told him: "I hate you, I'll never wear your jersey, I'll never like the Seahawks again."

"Huh?" Hasselbeck thought. "Seriously?"

"Politics can be very mean and dirty," he said. "The things politicians say about each other, and what activists say, I had a brief glimpse of that for a couple of days.

"If I ever had any questions about whether I wanted to run for office, I now know the answer -- I don't."

As a quarterback, he's used to getting booed. "But this was a whole new level," he said. "I was very surprised how mean (they were)."

It's pale blue. Eastern Washington is red. The only reason we have Gregoire for a governor and not Rossi is King County.

These same leftists mount their high moral horses and lecture us when we choose not to see movies involving the likes of George Clooney, Barbra Steisand and Whoopi Goldberg.

Seattle PI says Washington is Blue state, here's the map. In fact it is a Red state controlled by the sprawling Seattle urban area, which in our last election continued to find votes for weeks that, mysteriously, exceeded the number needed to put the evil Dem witch in the Gov's office.

“his wife is Elisabeth from the View”

I’m feeling foolish. I’m a Seahawk fan from Washington, and I didn’t know Elisabeth from the View was his wife. Dang, its good to know a bald guy can do that good.

Shortly after sending this message, he quickly called his friends to let them know about his party on Sunday to celebrate the season opener and invited them all over to watch the Seahawks.

The party is in his mom's basement (where he lives).

There’s a bit of a difference between supporting your candidate at a private event and publicly mocking the other guy, who happens to be the President our our nation in a time of war, in a petty, rude way, in a foreign country no less, don’t you think?

She’s not Matt’s wife. She’s married to his brother Tim.

When you are a high-profile person and you go out in public and take a political stand, you're bound to catch a ton of sh!t from about 50% of your potential customers.

It has been reported for years, and I believe it to be true, that Michael Jordan, a known democrat, refused to do any political ads, endorsements, apperances, etc.. and when asked why he said "republicans by sneakers too."

Well, I now have more respect for Hasselbeck (who was practically a neighbor while growing up) than I might have otherwise.

On the other hand, I myself have lost absolutely all respect for local legend Doug Flutie after he was photo’d dancing with Hillary when she ran for senator from N.Y.!

Flutie raised eyebrows here when he supported Bush 41 in his campaign against Massachusetts governor Pee Wee Dukakis.

My money says the guy never even heard of the team until he read about the event on some leftist website and used the contact info there to complain.

I have a t-shirt that has a picture of Ronald Reagan's head, made to look like the "Che" t-shirt...With a caption below that say's Viva the Reagan Revolution..!!

I love the looks and comments I get with it....

The other day a stupid Sheeple co-worker said, "I hate Reagan, he wouldn't pay for my daughter's college". I just laughed at her....There's no sense trying to talk sense to some folks. LOL!!

I have the same shirt, but just the pic, no words.

I wear it often where I know it will annoy at least a handful of people.

Along with my I Love Halliburton shirt.

I actually had a pharmacist, who you would think had a decent education and at least a modicum of knowledge ask me while I was paying for my prescription, "Who is Hallie Burton?" As in a womens name!!!

I replied nicely "They are an oil services firm". Her response, "Oh, are they local?"

IDIOTS!

The Rats spit on Eagle Scouts at their convention a few years back. Nothing is beneath them. Well, maybe the Islamofacists, but not much more.

Despite what the ads may say, most women over 30 are not obsessed with how much hair a guy has on his head. What’s inside the head is more important. If you are a bald guy and women are blowing you off because of it, you are chasing shallow women.
