Senator In Sex Sting Now Likely To Quit (Larry Craig)
NBC ^ | 12:44 pm EDT September 6, 2007

WASHINGTON -- It now looks like Sen. Larry Craig is going to leave office after all.

His top spokesman said Thursday that Craig has just about dropped any idea of trying to complete his term, and that he is focused on helping Idaho send a new senator to Washington within a few weeks.

(snip)

Craig's situation came up in Wednesday night's Republican presidential debate.

Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas and Rep. Duncan Hunter of California both called for his reignation.

"What I think is good about it is that he's taking responsibility in the sense of resigning from office, and I think he ought to stick with that," Brownback said.

Adding that he wanted the Republican party to "get to the bottom of this," Brownback said, "we shouldn't hide people. We shouldn't walk away from family values for fear that instances like this happen within our party."

He was thinking of using a page from the Dem playbook: Shamelessness wins. Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, Gerry Studds, etc., just insist you did nothing wrong and fight to the end. In your face defiance. You’ll outlast your enemies.

I guess he couldn’t find sufficient allies, here or in his district.

Nothing left for it but to make like Britain’s John Profumo and spend the rest of one’s life toiling obscurely for charity.

Craig should establish a business that sells arrogance and ego. With an unlimited supply of these commodities, he would soon be a billionaire.

"What is with this Craig guy? in and out and in and out."

As my dad would say, it's time for him to "poop or get off the pot."

I predict that within 30 days Craig will call a news conference to announce that he is a “gay American”, makes no apology for it, and that it was the mean, hurtful republicans and conservatives that kept him in the closet and the bathroom stalls.

This guy isn’t going down without a struggle and he’ll be grasping for whatever headlines he can get on the way down in an effort to remain relevant and employed somewhere.

"Just about"? Oh, brother, here we go again. More clintonian weasel-wording and tergiversating.

Your prophecy could well come true, although Craig strikes me as a homosexual so deeply closeted, he might prefer suicide rather than admit who he is.

It would astound me if no investigative reporter, especially in the homosexual media, did not publish a detailed article on this affair and soon. But it would also not surprise me if Craig embellished or changed his account to fit any new revelations. I believe even his family will eventually grow weary of his continuing flip-flops. As Sargeant Karsnia so aptly put it, "embarassing, embarassing."

I've got news for you...

The Log Cabin Republicans don't want him! Apparently, they don't like restroom perverts either.

In a strategic move, He has stalled his announcement.

Assuming that his wide stance might point a finger at his guilt, he's tapping new talent to get him off.

I had never heard of the guy, but now I'm going to be sorry to see him go. His entertainment value was priceless.

Immature Toilet Humor Ping!

If you are wondering how you got onto this list, it's because you said something funny on a previous Craig thread that cracked me up.

To be added to this ping list just make some stupid bathroom humor innuendo that has nothing to do with Larry Craig.

Craig really blew it. He threw his life down the toilet. The only way he can resurrect his career is to suck it up, swallow his pride, get on his knees and ask for forgiveness.

I was talking to my buddy Dick, who is an expert on this particulary section of the penal code. He’s with the law firm of Johnson, Weiner, and Wang LLC BTW.

He agrees that Craig is in a deep hole. There is no way for him to wipe his record clean.

The GOP is just better off washing their hands of the whole mess.

A lot of people are saying that the prosecutor doesn’t really have a good case against Craig.

I mean, where’s the beef?
