Candidate Thompson Praised for Global Warming Views By Kevin Mooney CNSNews.com Staff Writer September 06, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - Free market advocates in search of a champion who will take a firm stand against draconian global warming laws, might have one in former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.), who announced his run for the presidency Wednesday on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
This vote of confidence comes from a Senate colleague, James Inhofe (R-Okla.), who believes the weight of scientific evidence has shifted decisively against the notion of human-induced global warming in recent years.
Unfortunately, many Republican and Democratic leaders, as well as leading presidential contenders continue to push for legislation that would "shut down America" in the name of "misguided alarmism," Inhofe told Cybercast News Service.
"The Republicans will need a nominee for president who is willing to tell the truth, and so far the one out there with the most courage is Fred Thompson," said Inhofe. "He is aware of all the issues I've raised on global warming, and right now he's the only one I see who is willing to take this on."
Unlike many of his fellow Republicans, Thompson has demonstrated a willingness to confront elite opinion, Inhofe said. While Thompson is sure to antagonize the news media with his stand on global warming, Inhofe thinks he will find a receptive audience among average Americans.
"Far-left environmentalists," "Hollywood elitists," and "the mainstream media" continue to peddle anthropocentric (man-made) global warming theories, but there is no scientific consensus on these matters, said Inhofe.

Give ‘em hell, Fred.
H
Duncan Hunter on FR press conference: “I reject Al Gore’s and others’ doomsday alarmism on the subject”
Duncan did great last night.
Rudy and his stupid giggling and Romney with his Iraq wavering. McCain looked better than those two.
One more reason to vote for Fred!
Thompson:
Solar system is warming, not earth
“Some people think that our planet is suffering from a fever. Now scientists are telling us that Mars is experiencing its own planetary warming: Martian warming. It seems scientists have noticed recently that quite a few planets in our solar system seem to be heating up a bit, including Pluto. NASA says the Martian South Pole’s ice cap has been shrinking for three summers in a row. Maybe Mars got its fever from earth. If so, I guess Jupiter’s caught the same cold, because it’s warming up too, like Pluto.
This has led some people, not necessarily scientists, to wonder if Mars and Jupiter, non-signatories to the Kyoto Treaty, are actually inhabited by alien SUV-driving industrialists who run their air-conditioning at 60 degrees and refuse to recycle.
Silly, I know, but I wonder what all those planets, dwarf planets and moons in our SOLAR system have in common. Solar? I wonder. Nah, the science is absolutely decided. There’s a consensus. Ask Galileo.”

And for a little perspective ...
GIULIANI:
Q: Is science wrong on global warming? And what, if any, steps would you take as president to address the issue of climate change?
GIULIANI: I think we have to accept the view that scientists have that there is global warming and that humans contribute to that.

New!!: Dr. John Ray's
GREENIE WATCH
Ping me if you find one I've missed.
Fred nails it.
That is the first thing about Thompson that has impressed me. I am really sick of this GW fantasy and would never vote for McCain because he’s gung ho on it.
True, but McCain still does not have a clue that letting illegals stay here is amnesty.
Rudy is right on his heels on Global warming.
Fred’s looking better all the time.
If there is one guy who will NOT give up one ounce of sovereignty to an international body on Global Warming or any other subject, it is Hunter.
I like his position on National Security, immigration, education, Federalism, entitlements, the environment, energy , and he has a hot wife ;)
The only thing I don’t like is.... OK, I cant think of anything yet.
To bad the RHINO’s are lining up behing Guiliani.
Just one more reason to like Fred!
the funniest thing about Rudy last night was his snatching his glasses off his nose when the camera turned to him. He did it twice, if not more. Looked really vain, and also dumb in that later he kept his glasses on when speaking.
