SAN FRANCISCO — Disgraced Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu was arrested in Colorado late Thursday after he failed to show up for a court appearance related to a felony theft conviction.

FBI agents took Hsu into custody at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., said FBI spokesman Joseph Schadler.

Hsu had been scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to turn over his passport and ask a judge to cut in half the $2 million bail he posted last week when he turned himself in after spending 15 years on the lam from a felony theft conviction.

Instead, Hsu failed to show up at the bail reduction hearing and a judge issued a new arrest warrant for him.

The FBI is not stupid, but evidently he is.

That was an expensive $2M 48 hour jaunt.

I’m afraid that Norman Hsu might “kill himself” real soon.

” I wonder how they found him? “

That’s my question —

I doubt that it’s a normal thing for the Grand Junction FBI office to keep agents on duty at the hospital in case a fugitive might show up....

Did someone dime the guy out, or did he ask for protection??

Enquiring minds want to know......

When it became apparent that Hsu had fled the state, California authorities sought the assistance of the FBI, whose agents arrested him Thursday night on charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, Schadler said. Once he is returned to state custody, the federal charges will be dismissed, Schadler said.

WTF?

They arrested him at a hospital, and he had been been traveling on a train. Amtrak food? Or, did his handlers pack him a special box lunch?

Grand Junction, CO seems like a VERY odd place for this guy to turn up. He may have been at a hospital because he was seeking some kind of treatment... or he may have been there because there were lots and lots of people around.

Just thinking out loud... if I’m Norman Hsu, running from someone who is trying to injure or kill me, I’m headed for the nearest public place. If I’m in an area that’s unfamiliar to me, I’ll follow signs to an airport, train station... or hospital.
