The Journal News is about as unbiased as The New York Times and The Washington Post combined. Taking that into consideration, do you think that this was a “justice is blind” kind of thing? I’m all for put up or shut up. But what’s fair and what’s reality are sometimes two entirely different things.

Then where is the evidence that her tests were rigged or simplified. Until I see any evidence, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.

As long as she could carry my 6’ 2”, 240 lbs. butt out of a burning building

You'd be a well cooked dead man.

No, I am going through the physical testing for several fire depts... Almost off of the women can’t pass the physical exams. It is what it is.

I got blasted by 3 people for what I said. At least you agree with me. I am testing for a few departments right now. The women can’t pas the physical exams. The depts just lower the standards and push the through the process just for the #’s.

It’s political correctness gone crazy. Fire depts have been male dominated in the US for a very long time. Things have been running fine the way they were. It’s a male job. Plain and simple.

Women dominate the nursing field. Where the hell is the federal government and the Dept of Justice?? They should be our sueing the nursing schools for not recruiting and admitting enough male nursing students! Talk abotu a double f’ing standard! Riddle me that, ehhh??

Keep your chin up. Do the best you can, and hope for the best. You’ll do it.

No, I work out at the gym. Lift weights. Do the stair machine with a 75 pound vest on my back for a half hour...

I don’t do marathons. While she can robably run 20 miles more than I can, she can’t throw up a couple of hundred pounds on the bench or squat a few hundred pounds.

Again, it’s not a job for females.

I worked with a female firefighter for 3 or 4 years. (she quit when she got pregnant) She was every bit as capable as me or many of the other guys. I wouldn’t hesitate to put my life in her hands. There aren’t many, but there are some. She sounds like she might be allright.

Right, so your city/county/town probably paid a fortune to have her properly trained and certafied just to get 4 years of service out of her. When a fire or police dept hires and trains a person, they do so with the intention of keeping that person for a 20-25 year career. It would make more sense to hire a guy that will not get pregnant and that will probably put a full career in.

But hey, your department just needed a number on the diversity sheet... more power to them.

As long as she could carry my 6’ 2”, 240 lbs. butt out of a burning building … I don’t care about her gender.

Maybe you are just not diverse enough to be worth rescuing.

My diversity notwithstanding … she should be able to rescue me, carry my fat ass out of a burning building and renew her makeup afterward.

Do you remember this story from a couple of years ago?

LEXINGTON, Ky -- A domestic-violence shooting that escalated into a six-hour standoff killed a firefighter, a Lexington woman, and wounded at least three others Friday at a home in rural southern Fayette County.

Police finally arrested Pat Hutchinson, 45, at around 9:45 p.m.

Lexington fire Major Greg Stapleton confirmed the death of Lt. Brenda Cowan, 40, a twelve-year veteran of the department. The other firefighter who was shot, Jim Sandford, was in stable condition Friday night, Stapleton confirmed. A third firefighter, Mike Souder, suffered an apparent sprain and was treated and released.

Hutchinson is also accused of murdering his wife, Fontaine, 60.

A Lexington police officer also was injured in a car wreck traveling to the scene.

"This is our worst nightmare," said Lexington fire chief Robert Hendricks.

Cowan, was a Union County native and the sister of former UK basketball player Fred Cowan. She was the first African-American female firefighter in Lexington, and had been promoted to Lieutenant on Tuesday.

"She was the top of the line, the best at everything she did," said Hendricks.

I know a couple of guys who are on the Lexington Fire Department and knew Lieutenant Cowan. They told me that she got steamed when they tried to lower the physical training standards for her, pointing out that there wouldn't be an instructor out in the field to help lighten her load.

After her murder, Lexington officials quickly changed the procedures on responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Help us find that video of the females trying out for the Los Angeles fire dept back in the early 90s, it was the most instructive visual I’ve ever seen on this subject.

Women should never be firemen, you could never whip out enough hose to impress them.

Five years after the test? If she can do it today, and the other eleven that beat her on the test are hired, O.K. with me if she is hired.

Also, she would not have to carry me down a ladder. I promise, I would not be caught, dead or alive in Yonkers.
