Local Congresswoman Jean Schmidt is being accused of plagiarism.
In her weekly column, Schmidt gives tips on how to help students stay safe on the bus.
But, according to the Enquirer, those tip are lifted, word for word, from a 2005 column written by an Ohio State Highway Patrol Colonel.
A Schmidt spokesman says her actions were okay because they were safety instructions.
This isn't the first time Schmidt's integrity has come into question.
Last year she was accused of plagiarizing a column on Medicare and she has also received a reprimand from the State Elections Commission for claiming a University degree she didn't have on an official bio.

Ugh. Will this woman just go away? She’s ruined that district completely.
To: Clintonfatigued
Obviously a Republican, since the article doesn’t mention her party. Need I add the /sarc?

Indeed, every time she opens her mouth (verbally or in writing), she inserts her foot.

To: greyfoxx39
She actually is a Republican.
Last year see all but called Murtha a coward on the House Floor and got booed by the Dems for it.

The Democrats don’t hold a monopoly on jerks, traitors, thieves, liars or feckless imbeciles....
They simply hold a controlling position..
Soon, the nation will be forced to implement minimum standards that anyone wishing to hold “public office” must satisfy...and holding “public office” may not become a career position...

Jean is establishing the kind of credentials that a ‘President Hillary’ would appreciate.

This is the woman who replaced Rob Portman in this Congressional district. Portman was respected by all but Jean just keeps doing things to undermine her Christian values, upon which she heavily relied upon during the recent campaigns.

Sigh. I wish Schmidt and Barbara Cubin would just go away, so I can stop worrying about what should safe Repub districts.

(Of course I'm ignorant. I'm here to learn.)
To: The Old Hoosier
Perhaps she should have given credit to the Colonel who wrote the safety tips, but I would hardly think it's necessary when you're just restating what an Ohio state employee wrote as part of official business.
And the other plagarism charge was made by the DCCC and independent candidate Nate Noy, who accused her of writing an op-ed that was almost the same, word-for-word, as one written by fellow Ohio Congresswoman (and Republican) Deborah Pryce. So the charge of plagarism was made by a political enemies right before the election, something the story neglected to mention. They also neglect to mention that this is a common practice among all Congresspersons.
More here
The truth is that Schmidt called John Murtha a coward and the Dems and MSM are going to make her pay for it.

You’re in good company on that.

Cincinnati was having a slow news day, no pit bull attacks, not one shark attack anywhere in the world ... damn what is one to do? Go after Jean Schmidt ... the local lamestream liberal media loves to go after her given the slightest opportunity ... and often even without reason. Anytime sheâs up for re-election they (the local media) fawn over her âRat opponent ... and do everything possible to put Jean Schmidt in a bad light. Jean Schmidt is our very own Annie Oakley, she has spunk ... and does a good job for her constituents in Washington.

So the Enquirer's goal is to scrutinize everything she writes in her column to ensure it is not plagiarized? What motivates someone to investigate safety tips????? (No answer needed.) Would they have done that to Paul Hackett? Like her or not, Jean Schmidt has been targeted by the DNC from the beginning because she had the guts to stand up to Murtha and Howard Dean. She supports the war effort with passion and that just does not go over well with the left.

What a raging moron. It's bad enough to be such a slug that you think it's OK for to steal somebody else's work, but you have to really be dim bulb to think that you can do it and not get caught after being busted more than once before. As a politician, people are going to be watching. And if you've been busted before, people are going to be watching that much more closely. Idiot!!
received a reprimand from the State Elections Commission for claiming a University degree she didn't have on an official bio.
In my view, that right there is grounds for outright dismissal.
