(AP) INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- Governor Schwarzenegger warns the Republican party must move back to the political center or risk losing voter support.
Schwarzenegger spoke Friday night at the California GOP party convention in Indian Wells.
He says the state partys percentage of voter registration has been shrinking, and to reverse it the party must tackle issues with broad public appeal, like climate change and building highways, railroads and tunnels.
He recently proposed distilling the state GOP platform into as little as a single page focusing on lowering taxes, limiting the size of government and building a strong national defense. That proposal, in a letter to party members, made no mention of abortion, gay marriage or other social issues.
Never trust an Austrian.
The CA GOP is about to go the way of the dodo bird.
Sleeps with a Liberal, thus, he is a Liberal.
The GOP will never win elections -- especially on the national level -- if it capitulates on these issues. Without the support of social conservatives, the GOP will cease to exist as a major party.
Arnold, wake up! That the GOP moved to the center is what got the Dems elected.

What about focusing on illegal immigration?
Best the Schwarz finds some new avenues.
And THAT is all that needs to be said! Well put! No further analysis required.

On illegal immigration the RNC has been far left of center. On spending the RNC has been far left of center. On education matters, the RNC has been far far left of center. On big government programs, the RNC has been far left of center. On gun control, all too often the RNC has been missing in action or left of center.
You know what Arnie, for one of the few times since you’ve held office I agree with you. The RNC should go back to the center. And you know what bud, where you’re wrong is that you think that would put them in your vicinity. No, you’d be hanging out way left of center with your buds the democrats, with the RNC too far over the horizon for you to see.
You are adrift in a sea of feckless leftist white caps bud. You’re playing governor, but you’ve got a lousy script, and your delivery is even worse.
If this were a movie, it wouldn’t have drawn $100,000.00 at the box office, and you’d be looking for honest work outside the profession.

There are two things that can always be counted on:
#1) When the GOP moves to the left, as if has in recent years, it declines.
#2) When #1 occurs, the media and the Republicans who led us into decline will tell us the only way to rebound is to move further to the left.
if = it. I hate typos!

True. But I think it goes beyond that. We don’t field the right people to sell our message. It’s my opinion that even locally we often pick people who are already popular in the community, then push them to seek office when they aren’t all that well grounded to begin with. Then we wonder why they don’t sell our values to the public very well.
Odd that the three examples are things that his actions indicate he does not support.
