I guess I’ll have to rain on the humor parade. God rest his soul. I mock evildoers when they die, but this is a shame that his life was cut short. My son is a competitive cyclist and has had a few bad accidents. I worry about him riding on the streets of SF.

I worked in Manhattan for a number of years in the late 90s...back then it was cd players. Over the years I saw a number of bike guys bite it for various reasons.

This one day, I was walking uptown on 8th to 5 Penn Plaza and this bike guy was weaving in and out of traffic. At the time, I think CNN was in 5 penn but I was on a service call to the Visiting Nurse service data center. Anyway, the light was red on 34 and so mr bike guy was weaving to the curb to blow thru the light. Just about then, some distinguished guest was disembarking from their limo into 5 penn. Door goes open, bike guy, going 25mph hits said door, does a triple lindy and lands just short of moving traffic on 34th. If you know that block, that’s a good long ways. Probably 40-50 feet or so. As I was exiting a bit later, he was being loaded into an ambulance. Alive but really messed up.

His CD player was still laying in the street in a couple pieces.
