OKLAHOMA CITY — To some Oklahoma football fans, there are things that just aren't done in the heart of Sooner Nation, and one of them is to walk into a bar wearing a Texas Longhorns T-shirt.

That's exactly what touched off a bloody skirmish that left a Texas-shirt-wearing fan nearly castrated and an Oklahoma fan facing aggravated assault charges that could put him in prison for up to five years.

And we wonder why some schools limit what color or kind of t-shirts students can wear. Sounds like some adults need to grow up and get a life. Maybe get out of the bar and away from the remote control for a while.

Nards.

They lose most of their value once you take them out of the package.

This is a dynamic of sports that I find idiotic.

I like the home team, but for heaven’s sake, it’s just a game. Those who act like this make every fan look like a toothless brain-dead knuckledragger.

What makes the team from twenty miles down the road, public enemy number one, when they show up?

Seriously... grow up folks.

"I've actually heard callers on talk radio say that this guy deserved what he got for wearing a Texas T-shirt into a bar in the middle of Sooner country," said Irven Box, an attorney in this city 20 miles from Oklahoma's campus in Norman.

At least they put sports in its proper perspective.

Thomas, who once lived in Houston and became a Texas fan during the heyday of star running back Earl Campbell, is still recovering from his injuries but has returned to work as a meat cutter at a Sam's Club warehouse store.

There was a thread a while back about the ball-grabbing Okie church deacon, but it didn't mention that the victim is a professional meat cutter. This story keeps getting better.:)

This is why I, as an Okie, hate OU fans.

GO POKES!!

Yikes is that what they mean by the sports term
“leaving it on the field”?

If you thought Fox New’s story was good you should have read the earlier post from the Houston Chronicle: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1894848/posts

Or this even earlier post from a Dallas TV station:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1887442/posts

I thought the Chronicle was late reporting news!

“Seriously... grow up folks.”

Especially you OU fans.

It’s good having a team to hate, it’s better than having a team you love. It’s unlikely your team will win the national championship but it’s likely the team you hate will not win it. And for OU fans, anytime they don’t win the championship, it’s a vast conspiracy. Therefore I get that gratifying feeling every new year knowing that OU fans are in great agony and distress.

Try wearing an OU shirt into a bar in Austin and see if you fare any better.

Give this guy a Darwin Award and let him go.

It’s been done a thousand times...it’s highly unlikely a UT fan would stoop so low as to castrate a fellow for wearing an OU shirt into an Austin bar.

These are the same type of people that go to Star Trek conventions and get dressed up and learn to speak Klingon — only football is slightly more socially acceptable. Same mentality, although much more violent.

“Lots of inbreeding in that part of the country.”

Now if you mean Norman I can agree, but if you mean Oklahoma... 66 counties and all went for Bush in 04. I’m very proud of my state.
