It's nothing short of a miracle that we have been blown to hell.

Doesn’t Los Alamos have a major security incident every 6 months or so? It seems like they have no security procedures in place at all, and no oversight to speak of.

While Friedman noted that Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory conducts full inventories semiannually, Roark said Lawrence Livermore has a much smaller store of nuclear material. Full inventories are impractical and expensive, given Los Alamos' much larger supply, Roark said.Uh, Mr. Roark, it is precisely because you <Kinison> HAVE A MUCH LARGER SUPPLY </Kinison> that you need to inventory it. I am sorry if that is expensive and difficult but contrary to what you learned in publik skool, you have to do those things too.

Plutonium based paint for toys means you won’t trip over them in the dark anymore.

Strange, my lab uses tiny amounts of nuclear material and we have to provide an inventory and be inspected monthly. And the stuff we work with is pretty benign.

By the way, there are lots of really good Chinese restaurants in Los Alamos. Probably more there than in Albuquerque.
I’m sure it’s nothing to be concerned about.

Report: Lab Not Tracking All Plutonium (No inventory taken for 13 years!) Do we really want the government running our health care system?
