This thread is an insult to Thomas Dewey. I really think that it is poor satire. Thomas Dewey never made any such speech. In fact nobody would have made this speech in 1944.

I think the poster could have done a better job making it clear, up front, that Thomas Dewey (indeed, an honorable man) never gave this speech.

However, the “what if this is how they acted in WWII” meme is VERY relevant and VERY important to consider.

Why did you contact the Admin Moderator, P-Marlowe? So he would pull the thread? I think that’s quite a bit over the top and I don’t agree at all that it needs to be “admin moderated”.

Below is an interesting page from Day of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor, by Robert Stinnett.

It seems Gov. Dewey, who was running against FDR in 1944, had planned to charge FDR with having advanced knowledge of the Japs' plan to attack Pearl Harbor and failing to warn the commanders there. But General Marshall talked him out of hit on the basis that going forward would warn the Japs that the naval codes they were currently using had been broken.

My point exactly. And I've used the "opposition" party's own words.

Does anyone have a copy of the cover of Life magazine from the 40’s?
