What boggles my mind is how the good people of Tennessee could fill the same Senate seat one year with Al Gore and the very next with Fred Thompson.

Because the Gore family is very strong in Tennessee..

Not enough to make him President, though. Remember, Thompson didn't seek reelection.

That is another reason I like Thompson. He is not one of those lifetime politicians who never held a private sector job in his life. Anybody who freely gives up power after enjoying it for a while,gets my respect. The LibDems give up political power kicking and screaming.
