Islam, the Marxism of Our Time
City Journal ^ | 17 September 2007 | Theodore Dalrymple

Posted on 09/18/2007 6:02:46 AM PDT by kellynla

From an Islamist point of view, the news from Europe looks good. The Times of London, relying on a police report, recently observed that the Deobandis, a fundamentalist sect, now run nearly half of the 1,350 mosques in Britain and train the vast majority of the Muslim clerics who get their training in the country. The man who might become the sect’s spiritual leader in Britain, Riyadh ul Haq, believes that friendship with a Christian or a Jew makes “a mockery of Allah’s religion.” At least no one could accuse him of a shallow multiculturalism.

According to Le Figaro, 70 percent of Muslims in France intend to keep the fast during Ramadan, up from 60 percent in 1989. Better still, from the Islamist point of view, non-practicing Muslims feel increasing social pressure to comply with the fast, whether they want to or not. The tide is thus running in the Islamists’ favor.

Best news of all for the Islamists, however, comes from Germany. Two of the men that the German police arrested in early September for plotting a series of huge explosions in the country were young German converts to Islam. It is impossible to know how many such German converts there are, but it is thought to run into tens of thousands, principally men; in the nature of things, it is also uncertain how many of them are attracted to extremism, but few people are so attracted by moderation that they are converted by it.

The man believed to be the leader of the little group, Fritz G., the son of a doctor and an engineer, was himself a student of engineering, of mediocre attainment. He grew up in Ulm, where a quarter of the population is now Muslim, and at the time of his parents’ divorce, when he was 15, he began to frequent the Islamic Information Center of Ulm, and also the comically named Multikultihaus in the neighboring town of Neu-Ulm, where young men of jihadist views, including Mohammed Atta, had long congregated. In 2004, he was spotted at the Ulm Islamic center, selling a journal called Think in the Islamic Way. In December of that year, the police found propaganda in favor of Osama bin Laden in his car. In 2006, he went to a terrorist training camp in Pakistan.

His fellow conspirator, Daniel S., came from a well-off family and converted early in life to radical Islam. He traveled to Egypt to learn Arabic, and then returned to Germany, where he sometimes irritated his neighbors by praying loudly in Arabic three times a day.

All this suggests that Islam is fast becoming the Marxism of our times. Had Fritz G. and Daniel S. grown up a generation earlier, they would have become members of the Baader-Meinhof Gang rather than Islamic extremists. The dictatorship of the proletariat, it seems, has given way before the establishment of the Caliphate as the transcendent answer to some German youths’ personal angst.

This is good news indeed for Islamists, but not so good for the rest of us.

Sooner or later, we are going to have to give the muzzies the jihad they so desperately want.

And this time, we will finish the job.

The thing that these carpet kissers appear to not be able to comprehend is that an all out “Jihad” could be over in about an hour with the total annihilation of the Middle East. Even if we replaced the nuclear warheads on all our ICBM’s with conventional ones, we could evaporate them in very short order.

I hate to think what it's going to take to get the people behind this - but it will happen.

All this suggests that Islam is fast becoming the Marxism of our times.

This has it backwards. Stalin grew up in Georgia, exposed to Islam. He borrowed Islamist tactics and built on them in fashioning modern Marxism.

Europe may have to rethink the Reconquista and Inquisition. They may have to expel the Muslims . . . again.

“I hate to think what it’s going to take to get the people behind this - but it will happen”

In America, one more terrorist attack and every foreign muzzie will have to pack up his koran & family and go back to whatever hellhole they originated from.

Our ancestors didn’t risk life & limb to emigrate to this country just so a bunch of camel jockeys could come here, terrorize our women and children and make hamburger out of our families.

After 9/11, Bush should have secured BOTH borders, all ports and deported every foreign muzzie in America. We didn’t allow German American Bunds to operate in America during WWII and why we are allowing mosques to operate in America now is just plain insanity.

It is way past time to “take out the trash!”

Does America have the will? I'm not so sure.

Europe is going to be lost inside two generations because of the birth rates. America is the only industrialized nation sustaining its population.

We will never lose to these animals in direct military intervention. However, they keep nibbling away on the edges. For example, making special accommodations for them to exercise their "religious" practices at airports, schools and in the work place. We now have one of them in congress.

I'm in the socialist republic of Chicago. Multiculturalism is the rule. In talking with people here I'm stunned how few perceive how serious the threat is. We are in a different kind of war. The enemy won't confront us directly. They know they will lose.

What they do is use proxies, all the time establishing beachheads (mosques) in our country and pretending that the violence is not endemic to their religion. Where are all the great muslim leaders denouncing the violence, turning in the terrorists, and seeking assimilation? They don't exist.

Europe has enormous problems. They have abandoned any pretense of a Judeo-Christian mindset so there is a total spiritual vacuum, which has in turn given them a collapsing birthrate and an inability to discern right and wrong.

They just can’t figure out why these hordes who have invaded the homeland aren’t favorably disposed towards them. After all they supported the Muzzies in the ‘73 war and in turn gave them unfettered immigration access to stay on their good side. We’ve been nice to them, why won’t they accept us? Now their youth are beginning to seek answers beyond the self-centered materialism which has defined the continent.

Islam isn’t much of an answer, but it’s the most visible and accessible. If the physical world abhors a vacuum, the same can be said for the spiritual.

Well don’t feel like an orphan...
the situation is the same out here in L.A. & S.F.
and from what I understand, the same situation exists in every other major city in America.

I do business with folks in Chicago and I expect that if there were a bombing at say the Sears Tower, Chicagoans would rise up and say “enough!” and “all bets are off!” at that point.

I don't. I know we have big problems all over the country.

I do business with folks in Chicago and I expect that if there were a bombing at say the Sears Tower, Chicagoans would rise up and say “enough!” and “all bets are off!” at that point.

Our Mayor is so PC that if he got a check from the Saudis after an attack he would keep it and most folks wouldn't see anything wrong with it. I think most folks would give lip service to "enough", but when it came to expelling all muslims they would cry "it's against our principals".

I'm convinced it's the boiling pot and the frog problem. The frog doesn't notice how hot the water is getting until it's too late. That's what happened to Europe. I think what may work in our favor is when people see what happens to Europe.

Actually, I don’t know why Islam is considered a religion. It has always been a political cult, aimed at Arab domination of the world. Mohammed only came up with the “religious” hallucinations as a way of maintaining control over the places his tribe had captured. Allah conveniently told him that he had a right to all these places, and that he should them not merely raid them, but impose this “divine law” on them so that they would be the possessions of his tribe and followers forever, and would thus be a permanent cash cow. The fact that the dead hand of Islam crushes the life out of any society it takes over, however, means that Islam has to continue taking over non-Muslim societies as the Islamification of earlier captures is completed.

Islam is a political cult that is all about money and power. Arabs are still the top dogs in all Islamic societies, Arab practice is the deciding form, descendants of Mohammed’s family branches are particularly important in their theocractic governance system, and the Arabs continually “retake” non-Arab Muslim regions (such as the Sudan) to reimpose Arab rule. Mohammed was a bandit, and his cult is a criminal political cult aimed at world domination. It is not a religion any more than the Mafia is.

Hmm...there are some similarities. If Dalrymple means that islamism is another millenarian cult that promises a utopia that will never be, then yes, it's like Marxism. Certainly in its institutional willingness to kill anyone who does not wish to share that utopia, yes, it's like Marxism. In the embrace of terror and indiscriminate murder by a significant percentage of its adherents, yes again.

To those familiar with the underpinnings of both there are differences as well. To those on the receiving end of the bombs and bullets and the beheading knives, they don't matter much.
