If you elect socialists, you get ....... If you elect Roosevelt, you get the FDIC. Britain, and most other countries, do not have government deposit insurance.
Of course, in the U.S. regulators can seize banks that don't meet liquidity requirements. In the early 70's Franklin National Bank became insolvent because it lost a pile in currency speculation. It closed as Franklin National Bank on Friday and opened as European-American Bank on Monday. Regulators had sold it to a German Bank over the weekend.
