United way gives me yet another reason not to donate. They have a big drive going on at work. I chucked it in the circular file.

United Way is nothing short of corporate extortion. While working for Fifth Third Bancorp in the early 1990’s I was informed if I didn’t contribute ‘my fair share’ which came to almost $2,000 on against a total salary of $17,500 I would risk hurting my career.

I donated five dollars one time, and left that ridiculous corporation soon thereafter.

Ever since United Way started dropping Boy Scouts’ chapters around the country for their stand on homosexuals, I don’t give them anything either.

I haven't given to UW since vacation-gate about 10 years ago.

Where I worked then, they used to have a one-on-one sitdown with everybody to ask for donations. When everyone told them thanks but no thanks after that, they started just sending an email, then they stopped asking altogether.
