In the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani are now tied. Each man is the top choice for 24% of Likely Republican Primary Voters. Arizona Senator John McCain is in third place at 15% and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney attracts support from 13%. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee remains atop the second tier at 5% (see recent daily numbers).

Rasmussen is a very optimistic polling source...

i.e., President tracks normally at 39 percent but with 18 percent in the somewhat disapprove column that is 18 percent that do not totally disapprove so in fact he polls at 57 percent of those that do not totally disapprove.

Unlike Congress that gets 80 perecent total disapproval.

Good to keep in mind as we look at today's Rasmussen Presidential Favorability Ratings"
The top three Democrats are currently viewed favorably by 50% to 53% of voters. The top three Republicans earn favorable reviews from 45% to 50%. The biggest reason for the gap is that Democrats have a more favorable opinion of their candidates than do Republicans. The three leading Democrats are viewed favorably by 71% to 82% within their own party. The three leading Republicans are viewed favorably by just 60% to 69% of the GOP faithful.

After the also rans’ begin to drop out Fred will edge him out. I mean if you now support Hunter or Tancredo or Huck or that dolt from Kansas or McCain, are you going to vote for a Pro-abortion, Gun-grabber from NYC or a former Senator with an ACU rating close to Hunters’ and elocution reminiscent of John Wayne?

and that my friend is because we don’t have a true conservative running...

Rudy - Good job at slamming Hillary but defiantely not onoboard with my social values

Romney - Forget about it nothing good ever came out of MA.

Mcain - burned way too many bridges

Fred - Fred needs to step it up more... go on the offensive and start talking the talk and walking the walk...

the rest just don’t have a shot.

It seems reasonable that Rudy will not pick up a majority of the “also ran” votes, but as long as Romney remains in the race, Rudy can secure a plurality.

Of course, that’s looking at the race for the nomination from a national perspective. Looking at the race from a state-by-state perspective, things are much different. Assuming the also-rans have already dropped out after Iowa and New Hampshire, I have no doubt that Thompson would carry South Carolina and Florida, which would give him the delegate momentum going into Super-Duper Tuesday.

OK I’ll clarify...

No good politicians have ever come out of MA.

But I love the chowder, lobster, et.al goodies...

Yep, as usual, Republicans/Conservatives prefer minority status. It’s an easy and comfy place to be.

Timing is everything, and IMO Fred is pacing himself. He’ll step it up when it counts, ramping it up to peak on primary dates, as opposed to these daily polls.

I keep wondering about this repeated claim...apparently NO ONE passes the "true conservative" test. It's proving to be quite a successful bit of political subversion.

It’s B.S.

Whether you believe he has a chance or not, Duncan Hunter IS a true conservative and so it is inaccurate to say we do not have a true conservative running.

Amen! Hallelujah!! We have found the Messiah!!!

Hunter is perfect in every way. I know this is so because his supporters tell it to me constantly. Never mind that he's a big spender and went 0-for-19 on the Flake anti-pork amendments. He's perfect, absolutely perfect, I tell you!
