Congressman Vito J. Fossella (R-NY) sent a letter to Secretary Rice yesterday asking the State Department to deny Ahmadinejad's visa. HUMAN EVENTS couldn't agree more with Rep. Fossella's sentiments. The letter is posted below.
The Secretary Department of State 2201 C Street NW Washington, DC 20520
Dear Madame Secretary,
It has been reported that Iranian President Mahmound Ahmadinejad has requested that he be allowed to visit the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks when he travesl to the opening of the United Nations later this month. I believe that Mr. ahmadinehad has only one motivationfor wanteing to tour Ground Zero -- to mock the nearly 3,000 Americans who were killed on that day.
Mr. Ahmadinejad is the president of a country that is considered one of the world's most egregious state sponsors of terrorism. He is also a Holocaust denier who is committed to the destruction of Israel and fomenting terror and instability in the Middle East and beyond. He as American blood on his hands dating back decades from his alleged participation in the 1983 bombing of the marine barracks in Lebanon, which killed 241 soldiers, and his alleged role in the 1979 embassy hostage crisis. Evidence also links the Iranian regime to the delivery of improvised explosive devices (IED) to Iraq, which have killed countless American soldiers...

Ahmadinejad should be arrested as soon as he departs from his plane at JFK.

Sounds good to me. If the UN wants to talk to this guy, let them move to Iran. They should move there anyway. What the hell, we can use that building for something else.

This is a non-issue. Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism across the world, and the primary source in Iraq. To even think that we would entertain him visiting this country, even to talk the UN, is preposterous.
US out of the UN and UN out of the US.

This tyrant, from what I,ve read, was directly involved with the taking of American hostages in Iran in the late 1970s. He should be arrested and tried for his crimes, diplomatic immunity be damned! What has this politically correct, dysfunctional nation come to?

Correctomundo!
He has been identified as one of the Iranian terrorists from 1979-1981 who held Americans hostage.

Do think it would be a great idea if Columbia - and the U.N. for that matter, invited Hitler to speak alongside Ahmadinejad.
Like Nat sang with Natalie - and a few other techno-meetings - would be great to compare the dialog and the phiolosphy and the nazi roots inherent. . .that drives both these men.
Would be quite a sensation. . .IMHO. . .sarc - or less than. . .

This would be a great time to re-visit that treaty, and the whole issue of the UN. Announce that he is barred from US shores and that we are renouncing the idiotic UN treaty!! (I know that won't happen, but I can dream) My belief is that we need to abolish the UN, keep all these dogsh** dictators and their flunkies away from US shores, and announce a new global organization only for democracies and some other close allies who are moving toward better government. We do not need to be the chief sponsor (and funder) for the dungheap of the UN.
As for claims that the UN is necessary as a forum for all nations, a meeting place with Russia and China, NO. It might have seemed like a good idea in 1945, but the past 60 years have shown what a farce it is much of the time.
We don't need to give the world's worst governments such a forum, we need to elevate the position and influence of all the friendly governments that share at least enough of the values of freedom and democracy not to be complete repressive dungheaps ala much of the Middle East, Africa, and yes Russia and China. We can meet the latter two powers 1-on-1 when desireable, we don't need to give them heightened influence on the Security Council.

I think we should let him speak where ever he wants. Then we gather all those up who are there to listen to him. And we send them to Iran. They can listen to him speak over there from then on and he will have no need to come here again. Or we do you idea and bust his keyster at the airport. I like that.

He ought to be politely invited to the US, taken to the Ground Zero site, arrested, put on trial, and when he is found guilty (for there is no reasonable doubt) he should be suspended by the neck from one of those construction cranes, like they seem to be so fond of using as gibbets in Tehran. There is no justice quite like Poetic Justice.
Then let’s see how keen they are to build nuclear weapons.
