Daily Kos: General Petraeus Wore Fraudulent Medal
Via OrbusMax.com - Little Green Footballs ^ | 9/21/07

Tonight at Daily Kos, the new mainstream voice of the Democratic Party, they’ve found a new angle from which to attack General Petraeus: Hey, MoveOn! Petraeus Wore Fraud Medal At Testimony.

Examining General Petraeus’s medals, his official bios and then comparing three reports of events on 3/30/2003 in Najaf, Iraq - two by prize-winning embedded journalists and one understood to be by Army personnel (which document this diarist will produce to a responsible party at any time) - this diarist cannot conclude other than that General David Petraeus wore a medal for combat valor in his testimony before Congress that was a sham, propaganda and a dishonor to his troops and nation.

I will be extremely surprised if there is anything to these charges, but it’s not my area of expertise, so LGF military lizards—please weigh in.

Some of the guys I drill with were wondering about his CAB (Combat Action Badge) as combat badges are not generally awarded to General officers. I am not really certain as to what the regulation is about awarding the CAB though, but perhaps this is what the Kossacks are refering to.

it’s crap.....they hope it will fly for a day or two.....BSV along with a star and wreath above jump wings shows ME that someone making some BS accusation as appears on kos is not reasonably familiar with these issues. (let alone the REST of Petraeus’ salad and Iron)

If General Petraeus had received three Purple Hearts for splinters and bruises, that would have been OK with the Kosmonuts.

Remember the last time they blamed a 4 star with “fake” medals. It was not good. The media basically killed a guy and got away with it. I guess they are trying it again.

The general should do that.

As will I.

If the charges are false, then the statement is slanderous.

Of course, General Petreus has way too much class to pursue the matter — as well as more important things to do.

Rock on, General. Most of US is solidly behind you and your troops and your mission; I don’t care what the MSM and the Donks say.

Still trying to figure out what "kos" stands for, or is mutilated to mean. kos as in "cause", the daily cause? or as in chaos, daily chaos? Or an acronym? kos ='s kids on sedatives? kooks obliterating sensibility?

Sorry, I just don't get it..But that is not surprising given teh lefts penchant to twist everything ("Planed Parenthood", Affirmative Action, "Progeressive", etc..)

The Lunatic-in-Chief of the Daily Kos is Markos Moulitsas. That's where the Kos is coming from.

The Good Conduct Medal is awarded to enlisted personnel for three years of active federal service, during which time the recipient has neither absconded with unit funds, attempted to seduce the commander’s wife, nor contracted more than the company average of venereal diseases.

That’s what the First Sergeant used to say, anyway.

From Wikpedia on the CAB:

“The Combat Action Badge (or CAB) is a military badge worn in the U.S. Army. The emblem features both a M9 bayonet and M67 grenade. The Combat Action Badge may be awarded to any soldier after the date of September 18, 2001 performing duties in an area where hostile fire pay or imminent danger pay is authorized, who is personally present and actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy, and performing satisfactorily in accordance with the prescribed rules of engagement. Award is not limited by one’s branch of service or military occupational specialty, but is only authorized for wear on U.S. Army uniforms. A silver badge 2 inches (5.08cm) in width overall consisting of an oak wreath supporting a rectangle bearing a bayonet surmounting a grenade, all silver. Stars are added at the top to indicate subsequent awards; one star for the second award, two stars for the third award and three stars for the fourth award. In comparison to the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), the CAB has a silver rectangle backing rather than blue, and the CAB is 1 inch shorter in length than the CIB.”

I don’t see a limitation on rank like there is on the Good Conduct Medal which is limited to enlisted personnel. Based upon the above it appears to me that he’s earned this one.

Not eligible since he’s an officer. If he were a mustang (naval term) he could have earned one but since he’s a ring knocker he isn’t eligible.
