Daily Kos: General Petraeus Wore Fraudulent Medal
Via OrbusMax.com - Little Green Footballs ^ | 9/21/07

Tonight at Daily Kos, the new mainstream voice of the Democratic Party, they’ve found a new angle from which to attack General Petraeus: Hey, MoveOn! Petraeus Wore Fraud Medal At Testimony.

Examining General Petraeus’s medals, his official bios and then comparing three reports of events on 3/30/2003 in Najaf, Iraq - two by prize-winning embedded journalists and one understood to be by Army personnel (which document this diarist will produce to a responsible party at any time) - this diarist cannot conclude other than that General David Petraeus wore a medal for combat valor in his testimony before Congress that was a sham, propaganda and a dishonor to his troops and nation.

I will be extremely surprised if there is anything to these charges, but it’s not my area of expertise, so LGF military lizards—please weigh in.

According to his bio Gen Petraus was ambused by Saddam irregular forces during the inital invasion of Iraq. Based on what other Freepers have posted here about the CAB, that qualifies him under Army Regs.

The KosHoles just can not resist any opportunity to put down our troops. I’ll bet they cry themselves to sleep knowing that it is no longer politically correct to spit on them.

Haig had 3 awards of the CIB, the last of which he got while commanding the 1/26th Inf, after which he got his Bird and took over the 3rd Bde, Ist Inf Div, APO SF 96345 in mid-67.

I’m tracking-see my reply 47. I personally know soldiers who served a full tour in Iraq whose CAB was denied for what I think were trivial interpretations of the regulation. Because of that, I think it is entirely appropriate to ask questions when I see a General officer wearing it.

CAB (used to be a CIB)

Uh Uh......a CIB is a CIB, period......nothing “used to be” about it. You need an Infantry MOS to get it.

Guess I should've spelled out /s/arcasm. I am fully aware that officers commissioned from the get-go are not awarded the coveted Good Conduct Medal.

I received the U.S. Army Air Corps GCM in the U.S. Air Force in 1963. At the time, the USAF still didn't have its own GCM, so they used the old Army one. Far be it for me to demean a fine soldier like General Petraeus.

Good afternoon.

"...the recipient has neither absconded with unit funds, attempted to seduce the commanderÂ’s wife, nor contracted more than the company average of venereal diseases." So that’s why I didn’t get one.

This was the number one way we used to tell if an officer was a prior enlisted.

Possibly both, no doubt in hopes they’ll induce him to commit suicide as Adm. Boorda did. Despicable.

I’m surpised the KOSmanauts know anything about US awards when their area of expertise is in all things Soviet.

Good catch on all counts. It’s obvious that KOS is synonymous with ignorance.
