(It is to this same phenomenon, we believe, that Christ then refers as the “rock” upon which He would build His Church - the power of revelation, or the ability of the Holy Spirit to testify to the soul.

HMMmm... yet another 'interpretation' that cannot just READ the text for what it says:

NIV Matthew 16:13-18
 13.  When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
 14.  They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
 15.  "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"

 16.  Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ,  the Son of the living God."

 17.  Jesus replied, "
Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.
 18.  And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

 19.  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be  bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

All this is why I say that the precepts of mainstream Christianity are as dross to me when compared to the pure, refined, abundant truth of God of which I have sampled.

Are you SURE you are part of that organization that claims it is as 'christian' as any of the Protestant and/or Catholics are??

I love mainstream Christians. They make terrific converts.

And they are tasty; too!

Jesus is the Christ. His Church has been restored. God speaks to His people today through His prophets. We are blessed with additional spiritual light by means of new sacred scriptures to bolster and reinforce the old. We invite all to learn more.

It’d be nice if you actually read the Pope’s pronouncement instead of the mainstream media’s hit pieces on it. I would have thought that as an LDS member you’d have had no truck with that type of discourse.

How many times did he turn down and force the legislation to override him on any of the objectionable efforts from the left?

Yes Mitt it is time for a change in Washington.

But that sure as hell doesn’t include you.

Why should any Republican pay any attention to you?

You, the governor who forces people to buy health insurance, yet can criticize HillaryCare with a straight face.

You, the guy who tried to out-gay Ted Kennedy.

You, the man who indignantly declared you were an independent during the Reagan years.

You, the politician who decries gay marriage yet you are the person who enforced it, when there was no such law on the books.

You, the clueless moron who compares your sons’ driving around Iowa in an air-conditioned RV, working for your campaign, as serving their country like our soldiers on the battlefield.

You, the liar who claims Ronald Reagan was adamantly pro-choice.

You, the Johnny-come-lately to all things conservative.
Thankfully most people aren’t stupid enough to buy anything you are selling.

~”You have just masterfully shown, as a Mormon, Tantiboh, your utter contempt for “mainstream Christianity.””~ rightazrain

Contempt? Hardly. I love mainstream Christians. They make terrific converts. tantiboh

Jim, for several months I've been posting opposition to this group of Momronism apologists posting at FR and have been rebukes on occasion as a bigot. To which I usually point out that the efforts by these apologists have all the markings of proselytizing at FR. The post by tantiboh would seem to confirm what I've suspected on the part of several Mormonism apologists. It might help the discourse at FR for you to tell us what is a bigot, in fact, and what bigotry will not be tolerated ... readers and lurkers must be wondering by now, given the media attention FR is starting to get.

Oh, and thanx Tantiboh, for at least finally being honest about your feelings toward Orthodox/mainstream Christianity and Mormon efforts to proselytize for Mormonism.

I’ve never been dishonest about these things, MHG. I respect every denomination or faith that helps men be better than they otherwise would be. Such is of God, and you’ve seen me state this on multiple occasions.

However:
1.) I believe that I belong to the Lord’s own Church and choose not to embrace any other.
2.) I’m willing to share more with anybody who wants to learn more, regardless of the medium or forum.

It’s such a shock that I’ve finally had to confess. How sinister! You’ve finally found out our Master Plan!

“I agree with every word in that letter, but I still want someone else for President.”

That letter is the biggest concatenation of pablum I’ve seen in ages. Here, I can write just as well:

“Republicans need to be Republicans, not imitation Democrats. For too long our leadership has lacked the courage to stand for Conservative principles, the bedrock on which our Party was founded. Please help me put our Party, and nation back on the right path, before it is too late!”

Of course, flip conservative with liberal and Republican for Democrat and it’s a Howard Dean speech. Now what if Romney said the following:

“Vote for me, I will force you all to buy healthcare just like I did in Mass. and just like Hillary wants”.

Now that would be brave and true but wouldn’t fool the sheep.

Perhaps he has confused us with pasty dough filled with yeast.

Ok, so Mormons are brainless? I wonder, however, which Presidential administration was the most “Mormon”? Surely, this administration would be demonstrated as “brainless” and inept. Well, historically, the most “Mormon” presidency was Ronald Reagan’s. So, by that logic, if you think that Ronald Reagan was a bad president then vote against the “Mormon”, but if think that the Reagan administration had “brains” then surely you have to vote for the Mormon because of the good then did during the Reagan years.

“[Ronald Reagan’s] administration included more members of the Church than any other American president, ever. Three of us, David Fischer, Gregory Newell and [Stephen M. Studdert], served on his personal White House staff. Richard Wirthlin was his chief strategist. Ted Bell served as Secretary of Education, Angela Buchanan was Treasurer, Rex Lee was Solicitor General. His White House included Roger Porter, Brent Scowcroft, Richard Beal, Blake Parish, Jon Huntsman Jr., Dodie Borup and Rocky Kuonen, and there were many other Latter-day Saints throughout his Administration.” -Stephen M. Studdert, Special Assistant to President Reagan
