Posted on 09/24/2007 6:17:59 AM PDT by dano1

Former Arkansas Governor and Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee will host an historic 24-hour online "conversation" with voters called "Vertical Day, starting at 10 a.m. CT / 11 a.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 24 and ending at 10 a.m. CT / 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Sept. 25, it was announced today.

To officially kick-off the special event, Huckabee will host a live web-cast for bloggers and interested media at 11 a.m. CT / 12 Noon ET. (RSVP details below.)

The goal of "Vertical Day" is to focus on the issues in order to attract a large wave of potential supporters to the campaign website (www.mikehuckabee.com) over a 24-hour period. An emphasis will be placed on building new online support, energizing the campaign's base of existing support, and identifying the people most likely to participate in the first wave of the actual get-out-the-vote efforts on the ground. Components of Vertical Day include: blog posts, video clips of Huckabee on the issues and clips of Huckabee answering questions from bloggers.

"The focus of Vertical Day will be a discussion of the most important challenges facing America ," said Huckabee. "I'm excited about this opportunity to reach thousands of voters across America – and to build excitement around this discussion of these ideas, the solutions we see possible, and our hopes for America ."

To participate, please R.S.V.P. to alice.stewart@explorehuckabee.com or kirsten@fedewaconsulting.com by 10 a.m. CT / 11 a.m. ET on Monday, Sept 24.

I actually saw a Huckabee sticker the other day.

He has at least one supporter in the DC area.

"Vertical Day?"

Oh this is an unfortunate title for Huckabee's event.

Is he trying to get people to stop being horizontal when he speaks?

My thoughts exactly.

Can anyone shed some light on where this name came from? I’m inclined to cross Huckabee off my list of possible candidates just for the stupidity of this name.

Mike Huckabee is finally going to start walking upright?

Strange for him to be evolving now, since he doesn’t believe in it...

I’m thinking the best he can hope for is the VEEP spot. I don’t think America is ready to elect a Baptist preacher POTUS.

I’m interested in Congressman Peter King (R-NY) for VEEP. Does anyone know his stand on:
1. Abortion
2. Illegal Immigrants
3. Gay Marriage
4. Tax Cuts / Runaway spending / Big Government?

Huckabee has ideas, at least in politic campaigning. I think he’s a good man, active, and very, very much a smart politician. He’s not just sitting there in the 2nd tier hoping that lightning will strike. He’s trying innovative things to make it happen. Now, if he didn’t seem to me to be a big-spending nanny-stater I’d be more excited about it.

I like Huck. He’s not afraid to lift up the Lord Jesus Christ.

I hope Huckabee doesn’t get the VP slot. I want a conservative VP that could run for office after the administration ends . . . something we haven’t had in modern American history. In fact, now that I think about it, we may never have had a conservative Vice President in our entire history. Can anyone think of one?

Vertical Day is a Pop Culture term. Defined: When you do one thing all day long with no interruptions.

You guys need to get with it. Seems the man from Arkansas is more hip than you folks who didn’t know what “Vertical Day” meant. C’mon, get into the 21st Century before you start being critical of someone and showing your ignorance.

Thanks for the enlightenment.

The insults were unnecessary, particularly in light of your tagline : Don’t hate me and call me names because you can’t reply to my posts intelligently.

Being “hip” is not high on my list of qualities that I’m looking for in a candidate.

He's from NY.

Take your best guess. You'll be right 75%+ of the time.

Huckabee was at our church yesterday. Not as a political candidate but as a religious speaker. He was GREAT!!! Right on with his views on the culture today.

With that being said, I am a supporter for him as a public speaker but not for President. I would love to see someone with his cultural values but also with conservative political values.

Is Thompson it? I don’t know yet. Is Hunter it? I think so but he just can’t catch on and probably won’t this go round.

I pray that God will have mercy on us and spare us Hillary or Obama.

“He’s not afraid to lift up the Lord Jesus Christ.”

And he’s not afraid to pardon rapists, so they can go on to Missouri and rape and kill someone else, and he’s not afraid to push for free tuition for illegal’s kids, and he’s not afraid to nag unrelentingly about how you should maintain your health...
