KGO-TV ^

SAN FRANCISCO, Sep. 24, 2007 (KGO) - New York said "yes," but we said "no." Why were the U.S. Marines denied permission to film a recruiting commercial on the streets of San Francisco?

San Francisco is, once again, the center of a controversy over how city leaders treat the U.S. military. This time, it involves an elite group of Marines who wanted to film a recruitment commercial in San Francisco on the anniversary of 9/11.

He says Film Commission Executive Director Stefanie Coyote would only allow the Marine's production crew to film on California Street if there were no Marines in the picture. They wound up filming the empty street and will have to superimpose the Marines later.

Digitize the Marines into the background ... and run the commercial. CGI is a marvelous technology and there’s not a thing the pee wee gallery at SF can do about it.

While pulling the plug on all federal funds going to San Francisco will not happen while Stretch Pelosi is Speaker, we can let the San Francisco Film Commission know what a traitorous bunch of scoundrels they are.

I doubt she has ever seen a single Commercial done by Marines in the last eight years.

How the heck can the Marines be banned from doing anything at all in San Francisco?

You beat me to it! Seems to me it’s a public steet and they have a right to be there as much (actually, more) than anyone else. I’d like to see SF pacifists try to stop them if they really chose to do so.

Thanks for giving the contact information. Of course they are not answering their phones. I left a message. I gave them my phone number. I wonder when I will get a return call. This is why I hardly ever go into San Francisco. I only live 40 miles away and avoid it whenever possible. Even when out of state company comes, I usually give them a BART ticket and let them go alone. Oh, I am so mad.

What the heck, you get 6 marines and take the city and add it back into the USA.

Thanks for the contact numbers, I called and got a voice mail message saying no one is available to take my call. I left a polite message (it was hard) and said why doesnt San Francisco look to Iran or Venezuela for protection since they don’t seem to like America or want the Marines to defend them....

It is time to dis-own SF and let them defend themselves. I am sick of those homo faggots in queer city USA.

I am missing something here folks. Can you enlighten me. I thought that an active duty member of a military service, performing official duties, could not be restrained by local authorities - period. Has something happened in the past 50 years?

This is flat out illegal. The requirement that marines not be in the picture is clear regulation of content. Not time/place/manner.

Marines should sue and would win.

Seems like they have “the secesh” pretty bad. Perhaps if the art lady can’t stomach a few Marines there, a few thousand might make her more reasonable.

It’s situations like this that make me glad I’m not in charge...I’d hang her for treason.
