House Passes Children's Health Care Expansion
Chattanooga Times Free Press ^ | 9-26-2007 | Herman Wang

WASHINGTON--the House late Tuesday passed--by a less-than-veto-proof 265-159 margin--an expansion of a children's health insurance program over the objections of area Republican members, who voted against the bill.

President Bush has threatened to veto the Democratic-backed bill, which would add coverage for several million children and families under the State Children's Health Isurance Program by increasing cigarette taxes by 61 cents a pack.

"This is a crummy bill," Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., said. "We created this program 10 years ago to help working families, but this goes way beyond the original intent of the bill."

There are $35 billion reasons not to pass this bill. Plus, as Rep. Wamp said the bill would make it easier for illegals to receive SCHIP coverage by requiring them to produce only a Social Security number to collect benefits. And that's the real reason the RATS want this--they want those illegals votes. Just another way for the American taxpayers to pay for criminals benefits. Sheesh!

Has Pelosi come on with the requisite Press Conference, to screech about how the "Democrat Congress has responded to the needs of America's working poor and children" yet?

I gotta tune in C-Span immediately.... /sarc

Uh Zach, you should have thought about that 10 years ago. Government programs can only expand over time.

Congress needs to go. All need to be voted out. This Congress is obsessed with power and I am ashamed we have such idiots represent us.

Oh, not to worry, Democrats always find a way to tax. Their criminal minds are built for just those occasions and nothing else.

Covers “poor” families up to $83,000 a year and “children” up to age 25.

I’m not gonna sweat bullets over this, because the Prez will veto it and the majority isn’t large enough to override the veto. We’re safe. For now...

Just another incentive for illegals to cross the border and have children here.

It seems politically incorrect to profit from someone’s addictions. How can we profit from the addictions of the celebrities who seem to know what’s best for all Americans, i.e., James Brolin. Perhaps, he can come up with the way to profit from 9/11 by making a new bumper sticker with a “Happy 9/11” smiley face on it?

I am mystified why the Bolshies can’t wait 18 months to inflict their socialist vision on us. There are 150 countries that would be more to their liking, why do they have to destroy mine. If you can find me one with a 2nd Amendment, I will go. The only thing I can come up with is, this way they can blame it on Bush.

2 hours South of my present location, one can buy a tractor trailer load of premium cigarettes for $1.40 per carton.

If I can do it, anybody can do it.

Hello, black market.
