Why don’t we deport him NOW, straight to a Mexican prison, and let him serve his sentence there? We should have such arrangements with main source nations of illegal immigrants, instead of US taxpayers getting stuck with the bill.

Because in Mexico, it probably isn’t a big deal - and he would be free in two weeks - crossing our open border once again.
Because if we sent him back to Mexico for punishment, they would instantly send him back to the USA, with diplomatic immunity, to repeat the crime.
Heck, he might even be proclaimed the new democratically elected leader of Mexico,if he can garner enough remittances!
