Again, the abuse I knew of 50 years ago was without shame. The men felt it was their right, the girls were actin’ sexy, ‘they didn’t mean it that way’, she was their stepdaughter and his wife wouldn’t have sex with him anymore etc. Again, it probably was worse back then because the GIRL felt shame and that it was her fault.

Like the 14 y/o HS buddy of mine who was raped in the barn by her oldasherfather neighbor...he laughed at her and told her “your father won’t believe you” so she never told....that was in 1970 in South Georgia.

Taping is new, yes. But did the men who used 9 year old prostitutes in the time of Jack the Ripper feel shame? No.

Did my abuser feel shame? No.

Honestly, I really believe it’s the same song, just a a different verse.

Darren Tuck, 26, of Pahrump, was booked on charges of possession of child pornography, after he initially told sheriff's investigator he just found the videotape in the desert, but on subsequent interrogation admitted to having it in his possession for five months, according to detective David Boruchowitz.

Thank you for this message. Probably the most compelling statement is your third: “If God is willing to lower himself to human status, and then to suffer an agonizing death, how can we criticize God for indifference to human suffering?”

Good post.

I do want to point out that with children like this, the part of them that trusts authority, feels safety, is able to put their faith in someone else to protect them-— is totally destroyed and for all intents and purposes absent.

Like prosthetic limb, they can function and even create ways to deal with their losses...but....

It’s nearly impossible to get the idea of ‘God’ in the image of a father or an adult parental figure across to someone who’s been through this.

the statistics that showed that the vast majority of abuse is by people that the child knows and trust: Father, Uncle, teacher, pastor, coach

A stepfather (or live-in boyfriend), rather than a biological father, is far more likely to abuse his daughter. Sometimes the two categories are conflated, at least in the media. God has built a great parent-child/child-parent love into human nature, as any parent can attest.

This is what comes from a “if it feels good do it” society.
_______

I completely and totally disagree. This is not the byproduct of a “it feels good to me so it’s OK” world. The perp is dead inside. Likely from having been on the receiving end when he was a child. Rarely do these monsters spring up out of nowhere.

Child rape/torture/murder are not components of the feel good society. JMO.

Catch him and then remove his brain for study to find out what turned him into such a deviant.

Many things in society used to be shameful. Not now.
__________

Child rape is still shameful. You and I and everyone else know that to be true.

While your overall point of the mainstreaming of things that used to be considered shameful is clearly true, child rape has not gotten a free pass.

I honestly think it's 50/50. The worst cases of child abuse I know of involved bio-parents with their kids. Twisted people do give birth and do father children. And sadly, their 'love' gets twisted out of emotional into physical. Really, they're the worst ones because they DO think they feel love for their child...but their impulses get away from them.

There have always been those who are shameless but far more who do know shame. In the past few discussed their perversions out of fear of being caught, but today’s technology allows them some semblance of anonymity.

Well, it appears to make sense that the man is the dad or uncle or caregiver since no one has reported a child missing of her description. Certainly that would be the first thing the authorities would look for, missing children reports.

God does not cause these things and He too is upset, crying for her just as we do. And He is always there to care for, to comfort, and to heal.

Ol’slewfoot, Satan is always on the prowl, looking for the soul-less person to recruit and do his dirty work. It seems he finds plenty to recruit!!

“I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but it’s learning of horrors like this when my faith in God falters.”

You’re not alone in that but you shouldn’t. God gave us free will and those that are evil will abuse it.

Also, once heard a sermon on this subject. If good exists then evil also exists. He was much more eloquent than I. Criminals like this make you really question humanity.

Well everything you say makes sense, and is a comfort, I suppose. Sometimes there just is no reasoning for why things happen.
