Massachusetts Abortion Victim's Mom Comes Forward
Operation Rescue ^ | 9/28/07

Posted on 09/28/2007 11:02:01 AM PDT by Aquinasfan

Hyannis, MA - September 28, 2007 - Eileen Smith has come forward in order to keep her daughter's abortion death from being "swept under the rug." Her 22-year old daughter, Laura Hope Smith, died on September 13, 2007, during an abortion done by Rapin Osathanondh at Women Health Clinic in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Smith told Operation Rescue that she had no idea that her daughter was 13 weeks pregnant and considering an abortion. A friend accompanied Laura to the clinic. Early reports indicated that Laura died of hemorrhage, but Smith says that her daughter died on the abortion table. "There was no bleeding. She stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest," said Smith.

Ten days after Laura's death, Smith met privately for one hour at a public place with Osathanondh. He would only meet with Smith alone and refused to allow even allow her husband to accompany her. Osathanondh admitted that Laura died during the abortion but refused to admit he did anything wrong.

Smith told Operation Rescue that the details of her daughter's death appalled and sickened her, but she could not discuss those details because she is seeking legal action against Osathanondh for killing her daughter.

"My daughter was 22, healthy, and alive when she walked into that clinic," Smith said. "She didn't even have a cold. There is no reason for her to be dead."

Laura was born into abject poverty in Hondurus on May 25, 1985, and was abandoned at an orphanage. An American couple that adopted Laura abused her terribly and gave her up. Laura was then adopted by Tom and Eileen Smith, a Christian family that lovingly raised Laura in the Cape Cod community of Sandwich.

Laura was a 2004 graduate of Upper Cape Tech, majoring in cosmetology, but later realized that profession did not suit her. At the time of her death she was working in retail management. Laura was a born again Christian who was an active member of Calvary Chapel of Sandwich.

Over 600 people attended Laura's funeral. Since then, at least one young woman has changed her mind about abortion since hearing about what happened to Laura.

Smith told Operation Rescue that two days after Laura's death, she gave a full interview to the local newspaper, which was scheduled to be published on the day of Laura's funeral. The article has yet to appear, leading Smith to believe that there are attempts underway to cover up her daughter's death.

Operation Rescue is urging calls to the local district attorney asking for a formal investigation of Rabin Osathanondh in the abortion death of Laura Hope Smith.

Dunno. I consider the act of chopping up a 13 week old baby "wrong."

SOP for abortionists. SOP media blackout.

She walked into the clinic for the purpose of killing her own child...she was already morally and spiritually dead.

If she really was born again, something sure went wrong on her way to bed with her boyfriend, and something surely was wrong between her and her mother for her to have hidden her pregnancy and chosen to abort. A tragedy for all, but especially for the baby who had no choice in the matter.

Even Christian women make this mistake. I’ve known some. They all came to realize what they had done and regretted it deeply later on. Unfortunately, Laura will not have that opportunity. She is the same age as my daughter. My heart goes out to her family.

"There was no bleeding. She stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest," said Smith.

It sounds like she had a bad reaction to the anesthetic. Respiratory failure and cardiac arrest are two outcomes of an anesthesia reaction or OD.

Cover up? No doubt about it. I'm sure the local paper here is the Cape Cod Times which if I am not mistaken is owned by the Boston Globe.

“Laura was a born again Christian who was an active member of Calvary Chapel of Sandwich...”

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, MURDERS, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things WILL NOT INHERIT the kingdom of God. “

What’s the big deal here? Isn’t someone supposed to die during an abortion?

Abortion kills, and sometimes it kills more than just the child.

This is the cancer that is inside our churches today. The world has infected most churches to the point that “believers” find no fault with their children fornicating with others and we all want to be “tolerant” of homosexual behavior, so it isn’t even called to account in the churches. After all, “everybody does it”. ( Remember Bent Billy?)It’s to the point now that if you remind people that it’s wrong to fornicate and it will on;y lead to bastard children, abortion, or disease, then YOU are singled out as the bad guy. Ergo, you go to church and people want you to pray for their daughter because she is pregnant, no job, no husband, and you just hope she doesn’t kill the baby. This is the same daughter that sang in the Christmas musical, her dad is a deacon, her boyfriend went on a mission last year, and everybody knew they were boinking while ignoring it going on. If ANYBODY called them on their actions, THEY were busybodies that needed to “not throw stones”.

A fun test would be to have an impromptu meeting in the parking lot and ask the young people to open their cars and turn on their radio's without touching the station. 99% would be listening to hip hop or other dope head music as they parked their cars in the church parking lot. Another fun thing is to turn the volume up where the church can hear the words. Most of it is X rated and the kids will turn the brightest shade of red you've ever seen. If you keep it under a rock, hidden in the dark, everyone is able to pretend they are doing just fine with their spiritual health when they are actually on deaths door. The only problem is when YOU shine a light on it, you are the bad guy. Trust me, I know. And believe me, your child better be Mother Teresa if you do this. I call it being accountable.

As it is now, there isn't much statistical difference between pagans an Christians as far as divorce, adultery, fornication, abortion, alcoholism, drug dependency, etc. As churches accept homosexuality, abortion, and adultery/fornication, a "real" Christian will look more intolerant, crazy, and dangerous. The Bible says they will kill us thinking they are doing "God's Will"( sound like Islam?) When reading Bible passages against abortion and homosexuality become "hate speech", Satan will have free reign in the church. Many European and Canadian churches can't read anti homosexual passages right now. This is, and has been the only reason for hate speech laws. Ach-mini-jihad can speak wherever he wants, but I can't even read Genesis or Leviticus in some churches.

I didn’t cast a stone. As sad as it may be, this mother killed herself when she decided to kill her child.

I don’t agree with that. She may have been brainwashed by the culture that says a helpless life is not a valued life. I refuse to believe that all, or even most women and girls that have abortions are spiritually dead. Rather, I believe the culture has deadened them.

...outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions....

Ever exhibited either of these traits yourself? Just wondering.

I don't believe my KJV text capitalizes what you have chosen to capitalize.

It is sad fact that too many Christian girls are deceived by the thought that abortion is an acceptable procedure simply because a medical professional is performing the procedure or "evolutionary biology" allows for winnowing of the herd in the name of "science."

There is none more pro-life than I am, and there is no louder critic of the medical and "scientific" community in this regard than I.

Lest you too soon forget, the apostle Paul was at one time an accessory to murder prior to his Damascus experience. He was forgiven and this confused, desperate girl is also if her faith in Christ was true.

How sobering it must be to come face to face with your own child on the day you, yourself, died -- and under these circumstances.

That child has already likely forgiven her. As a Christian, Christ already has.

You might want to consider finding room in your heart to do so as well -- you certainly derive no added power in further condemnation by implication.

If she repented her sin, she would have been forgiven. If she did not repent, she will never come face to face with the child she murdered.
