FBI fears over Xue (Pumpkin case)
TV New Zealand ^ | September 29, 2007

American authorities hunting fugitive Nai Xin Xue fear he will continue his crime spree in the US.

The FBI and US Marshals have committed teams of officers to track down Xue, a self-described kung fu master who has been on the run in the US for more than a week.

The callous nature of Xue's alleged crimes, the murder of his wife in Auckland and dumping of his infant daughter in Melbourne, shocked hardened FBI, US Marshal and Los Angeles police veterans.

And now they are desperate to take him off the streets.

"We have to assume he may be a danger to our citizens," Tom Hession, chief of the regional US Marshals Service fugitive task force in Los Angeles, told AAP.

"If we can locate him and arrest him and send him back to New Zealand, that's exactly what we're going to do."

The FBI, US Marshals and the LAPD continued chasing leads throughout the LA region today, but declined to give details.

"There's nothing new to report," an LAPD spokesperson said.

There have been numerous sightings of 54-year-old Xue, who landed in LA a week ago on a flight from Australia and took a shuttle bus to LA's Chinatown.

Chief Hession said the trail left by Xue remains warm.

"I would say it's not cold," he said.

"We have some leads and we're conducting interviews and investigating the things that develop from there.

"We have a couple of dozen people working on this particular case right now and we have access to several dozen more if we need to."

Some media reports have said Xue may be running out of cash after withdrawing $8,500 in Auckland, before flying to Melbourne and purchasing the flight to LA worth more than $3,200.

If so, Xue may be looking for work in LA.

"Were not sure how much he had on him," Chief Hession said.

"I know there's been some speculation as to him having 'x' number of thousands of dollars, but we're not sure how much he had on him.

"That's all part of the investigation."

A warrant in New Zealand was issued for Xue's arrest after the discovery of his 27-year-old wife's body. An An Liu was found stuffed in the boot of Xue's car parked outside the couple's Auckland home.

Xue is accused of flying to Melbourne and abandoning his three-year-old daughter, Qian Xun Xue, at the Southern Cross Railway station

New Zealand media may be over the top, but Xue is probably still in the USA and is dangerous.

This is the story of the New Zealander who killed his wife, flew to Australia, left his young daughter in an Australian train station, and flew to Los Angeles.

It's a stranger story than that. He is a Tai chi or Kung Fu expert, or so he claims. An author, had been a publisher of a Chinese magazine in NZ, all sorts of strangeness. Needs to be returned to NZ.

"Pumpkin" Named so because of the brand of clothing she was wearing, before she was id'd after being found abandoned in a Melbourne train station.

> New Zealand media may be over the top, but Xue is probably still in the USA and is dangerous.

In this case — and in most cases— New Zealand media is less likely to be “over the top” than most of the breathless reporting you have become accustomed to as “news” in America. Our Journalistic standards aren’t too swift, but America’s MSM is just bloody awful, with very few-almost-no exceptions (most notable exception: John Walsh and “America’s Most Wanted”)

Particularly in this case. This Xue slimeball needs desperately to be brought in to face the music. Our journalists were way ahead of the cops on this story.

Xue is wanted for allegedly murdering his wife and stuffing her into the boot of a car, and for allegedly taking his infant child to Australia and allegedly abandoning her in Melbourne, and then allegedly fleeing to America.

We have sent one of our best cops over to help you guys out, so there is no excuse for him to escape Justice.

If you want Xue, mate — keep him. Let him commit a crime in, say, Texas where he stands an excellent chance of the Death Penalty for doing a repeat performance of what he allegedly done here.

And if so, let’s hope he gets arrested by Walker Texas Ranger, who can get a few good licks in before cuffing the Scroat and stuffing him into the back of the pickup truck for processing.

> He is a Tai chi or Kung Fu expert, or so he claims.

From the best I have been able to gather, he has some rudimentary training in the combat form of Tai Chi (but not kung fu), and claims to be highly skilled, far beyond his actual capability. That said, he would be more capable at combat than the average Joe, so he should be treated as very dangerous. He is thought to carry a small knife. If you see him, best to call SWAT.

If he doesn’t meet Walker Texas Ranger, then let’s hope his next intended victim has a concealed-carry permit, and has fantasies of doing her first Citizen’s Arrest. That would be true poetic justice!

Looks like the Sydney Train station. I seen pictures of it on the page for Hostels. There is a hostel there. We looked at going to Sydney and NZ. My wife is interested in Sydney but not much of NZ.

According to the latest news, “America’s Most Wanted” was going to carry a Xue story, but the Pahrump Pervert case knocked it off schedule.

I hope it is broadcast next week.

BTW, you are very knowledgeable. How is the name pronounced? Shoo-ay? Shway?

In NZ it is being pronounced “Shway”. I would have thought it more likely “Shoo” or “Choo” — but it has been many years since I have lived in Vancouver, so I don’t encounter these names as often as I used to.

Few web sites have done more to pick apart the awfulness that is the American MSM, than Free Republic. We are already painfully aware of the fact that you pointed out.

I, too, am well aware of the Free Republic’s public services as it pertains to showing the MSM up for what it is.

I guess I reacted to the NZ Media as being described as “over the top” by way of comparison. As I’ve said the standards here are “no-scream-in-Hell”, but our Journalists have a wee distance to travel before they meet the excesses of the American MSM.

Call it “inexperience” amongst our Journalists if you will: an American viewer would find our TV news quaint and refreshingly naive by way of comparison with, say, ABC or CBS, I suspect.
