I have always considered Ft. Huachuca and Sierra Vista as my adopted homes. I went form Stratcom Teheran to Ft. Huachuca’s Electronic Proving Ground. It’s nice to see people paying attention to these guys because they do so much behind the scenes that makes life so much easier for the grunts in the trenches. Unsung Heros! HooAh Brothers and Gods Speed. We have your backs here at home.

Is it so smart to telegraph troop deployments of such obvious sensitive mission personnel? I actually learned of this deployment in June when I overheard a couple soldiers talking about it. They just wouldn't be specific on what day they were leaving. This movement is only part of the deployment. I know the exact day the rest of the unit is leaving. I understand mission comes first, but it does seem kind of insensitive what day they're leaving, considering that the deployment was planned many months in advance. Then again, I'm only a private. :-)
It was my pleasure to be stationed at Fort Huachuca for five months earlier this year. I hope I can come back someday. That's a very good possibility, considering I'm in MI.

I know historic Ft. Drum will be a great place to come home to in the fall! In 40 days, plus travel time, it won't be fall at Ft. Drum. I was about 60 miles south of there in early September once, and that was mid to late fall by the appearance of the trees and by the temperature.
Beautiful, but cool.

I have only been to NY four times that I can remember. One of those times was to Binghamton on Easter with several inches of snow and that is just slightly less than 200 miles south of Ft. Drum. Thinking of that I believe I can see your point.

I work over in Iraq as a civilian. I was stationed at Huachuca 3 times with 69th sig in 94-95,B 40th 98-00 and 69th sig 02-03 again as a cable dog. If any of the guys end up on Tallil air base and need any help they can come by the IT department for KBR and I will stop what I am doing to help them the best I can.
