FORT HUACHUCA Slightly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, a commercial Boeing 757 lifted off the main runaway at Libby Army Airfield carrying 114 soldiers of the 11th Signal Brigade to a 15-month deployment in Iraq.
The soldiers, mainly of the brigades headquarters company, are the first of the hundreds of soldiers from the 11th Signal Brigade, primarily of the 40th Signal Battalion, headed to Iraq between now and the end of the year.
Soldiers of the brigades 86th Signal Battalion are expected to return from their 15-month deployment later this month and in November.

11th Signal Brigade
"Thunderbirds"
The 11th Signal Brigade is a totally mobile unit headquartered at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. It is the primary provider of rapid deployment tactical commmunications anywhere in the world. Using switch, satellite, microwave, cable and tropospheric scatter, the brigade is capable of providing service to units no matter where they are in the world. It provides both long distance and local service.
Military Tech controllers tell everyone where to go!
I didn't know anyone still used
Tropo Scatter anymore!
The Army Signal Corp. obviously still does!

"...114 soldiers of the 11th Signal Brigade to a 15-month deployment in Iraq." Lots of new U.S. signal activity in the news today. Hmmm...

Those dual dish antennas reach at least twenty feet up. Two soldiers are hidden under the netting at the bottom of the pedestal next to the scalene triangle brace.

Is it so smart to telegraph troop deployments of such obvious sensitive mission personnel?

I worked some exercise HF shots with Fort Huachuca to support Operation Solid Shield in 1980 from MacDill.

!!!!!!!!!!!! SHORT !!!!!!!!~40 Days~2nd.BCT.10th.Mt.Div.;0) Man, I bet you have to stand on a dime to look over a quarter!
Next thing you know you'll have to borrow a parachute from airborne to get out of bed.
I know historic Ft. Drum will be a great place to come home to in the fall!
