Sen. Barack Obama, would-be President of the United States, showed a breathtaking misunderstanding of the symbolism of the American flag yesterday when he explained why he does not display the Stars and Stripes on his jacket lapel.
Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, Obama said, "I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest," because he felt that supporters of the war in Iraq had, in effect, appropriated lapel flags and were using them as a "substitute for I think true patriotism." And he wanted none of it.

What Horse Manure!!! Reminds me of the story told about Harry Truman. One day, Truman commented “Horse Manure” to somebody after they tried to BS him. A reporter supposedly asked Bess Truman who was standing by if she could get the President to stop using that expression. Whereupon, Mrs. Truman replied, “...why its taken me thirty years to get him to say ‘manure’!!

Not necessarily. He isn't trying to impress FReepers. His audience is democrats. What democrat is going to criticize his statement? If he gets the nomination, then we can have fun with this.
