Clinton promises national campaign, seeks help from black clergy
Kansas City Star ^ | October 5, 2007 | Dave Helling

Posted on 10/05/2007 10:13:47 PM PDT by Graybeard58

After meeting with more than 50 ministers in Kansas City, most of them African-American, Sen. Hillary Clinton said today that "we could do a lot to solve many of our problems in our country if we actually listened to one another a little more closely."

The Democratic presidential frontrunner said she disagreed with some of the clergy on some topics, including such issues as abortion and gay rights.

But she said the meeting with ministers from around Missouri showed common concerns in education, incarceration and health care.

When it was over, the ministers said they were impressed.

"She's not going to carry this state without black clergy," said U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a Missouri Democrat who helped organize the session.

The meeting followed an early afternoon fundraising event that brought in at least $250,000 for Clinton, according to one campaign estimate. The event had been rescheduled four times since its original date in May.

The New York senator arrived about an hour behind schedule.

During a 20-minute news conference, Clinton addressed other issues:

* Health care: "I learned a lot from what we tried to do in '93 and '94. I'm very proud we tried ... There's a great consensus building in the country to try and make some sensible changes." * Torture: "I think the United States should be very clear in our policies that we do not condone or conduct torture."

Clinton also pledged to campaign in Missouri if she is nominated by the Democratic Party.

"I want to run a national campaign," she said.

I just read a statistic that black women abort at 4 times the rate as white women. Liberal policies and beliefs are killing black children out of proportion to their population and yet "black clergy" supports this immoral woman.

Wake up black America, the democrats are killing you!

Does Hillary really think the problem is that people don’t listen to each other? That people don’t talk enough? That she and Bill don’t talk enough? That we haven’t heard enough from those two to know what they want to do?

Does anyone think Hillary really wants to listen to you anyway? Or does she really prefer to ram down our throats what she wants and to hell with those who get in her way????

What did "they" do for blacks when "they" were President and co-President! Will these blacks ever get it!

She’s just using these clergy. What they call compromise she calls taking advantage. She uses them for their votes, and the issues she wants to affect and knows that on issues like abortion if she gets in office she doesn’t have to worry about that.

Can we make "No more Clintons or Bushes can be president" the 28th amendment?

I'm so bored with both families.

Hillary is much like her husband in that when you actually LISTEN to what they're saying--as opposed to reading what OTHERS say about them--they are boring. They have nothing interesting to say, ever, no original thoughts. And in Hillary's case, she embodies the cliche of the cold fish.

When it comes to urban black clergy all across the continent, it’s the highest bidder who wins. End of story.

Urban black clergy could care less about the self inflicted genocide that plagues their parishes.

Hillary will bribe her way to the black vote, just like every democrat, and she will receive it. Harold Ickes will work out the details. Howard Wolfson will make sure that the press buries it.

And more black teenagers will keep aborting and murdering each other at record levels.

Bored with the Bushes? I don’t think so.

Under GWB, we have had low taxes, a great economy, two more solid conservatives on the bench, and he KILLS MUSLIMS DEAD.

Don’t forget that as much as you might be upset with GWB, the loony libs can’t see straight at the mere mention of the two words: President, and Bush, together.

I want Jeb Bush in 2008.

""I want to run a national campaign," "

"After the primaries. I won't be in Florida, the first primary because I would win the contest easily and the national primary campaigns would be over.

My Socialist Party must fake a primary horse race so it can get free air time for the other 7 or 8 pretenders for the nomination.

My party has forbidden all campaigning in Florida. We are trying to blackmail them into changing the date to later. We have threatened them, well actually it's extortion, with not seating their delegates at the national coronation of me."

I am a big fan of W, actually--far more so than many FReepers.

But we don't need another Bush. We are a nation of hundreds of millions, and no one can convince me that the best we can have year after year come from the same family.

We broke from England because we don't like the idea of a monarchy. No need to have a de-facto one.

“-— Sen. Hillary Clinton said today that “we could do a lot to solve many of our problems in our country if we actually listened to one another a little more closely.”

I read the other day how hillary clinton had a group waiting for hour(s) to speak at her 94 health care summit (?) finally met with the people only to say good-bye!!!

I guess hillary clinton considers their just being there was ‘listening’ to them.

hillary clinton is nothing but hot air - (nice way to say it) - she knows exactly what she wants and how she will do it.

And we (Republicans/Conservatives) just eat our own.
