See post 15.
I’ve often wished we could find out just why so many protest on the left. When we see the large A.N.S.W.E.R. rallies out here on the west coast, it looks as if there are many college kids out there, people looking as if they were just bussed in from the welfare office, or as in your case, union members being paid to show up.
Who is paying these folks to show up? I don’t believe for a moment that they all show up just due to concience. There are too many other things to do with your time.
Are the college kids being given credits? Is this considered manditory for political science classes? Are some people pulling strings at the welfare offices to keep moms showing up?
During the 1980s my wife was taking a class at Glendale College in Glendale, California. Her professor suggested class members show up to register people before an election. My wife wanted the extra credit, so she and I drove to the assigned meeting place on a Sunday. When we got there, we were informed that we were only going to be registering democrats. If republicans came buy, we were to tell them that a crew would be back to register them in a few days.
When my wife confronted the teacher after the event, the teacher acted as if they didn’t know this would be the case. We both thought that was a lie at the time.
The left is crooked from the top to the bottom. They can’t win on ideas, so it’s open season on our electoral and political systems.
I zometimes see union members making a big show of waving the U.S. Flag. After 09/11 in particular, they acted as if they really respected the nation.
Then you look at what their unions are doing, or even just what our nation stands for and what unions stand for by comparison.
It’s tough to stomach, when you get down to it. The union thugs and the union leadership that would essentially do anything they could to destroy this nation, repulses me.
They act one way for public consumption, and act just the oposite when nobody is looking.
People and organizations of good character, do the right thing whether people are looking or not. And they don’t change how they do things either.
You are correct; leftie professors (is there any other kind?) are notorious for offering credit for going to protests. The left is a mirror image of decent Americans. They reflect what true Americans do, but backwards. They try to imitate us, but they’re shallow, only a fraction of a millimeter deep, like the silver on the back of a mirror. Harry Reid’s recent Stupid Human Trick was just such an example trying so hard to imitate the genuine outrage of the Petraeus ad, he seized on a superficially inaccurate interpretation of the Limbaugh quote and pontificated on it, making an a** of himself.
My only quibble with your comment is this. You can’t make an ass out of yourself if you’re already an ass. And Harry Ried is a card carrying U.S.D.A. certified rump roast in good standing.
He and many others are unfit to hold public office anywhere, let alone in our capital.
Take care.
“The Union doesn’t hire or fire people, the employer does...”
Oh, sure. If you really believe that then you didn’t learn much in your 35 years of paying dues. I guarantee, if the union wants you gone, you’ll be fired. The employer will be told to find some reason to let you go. They don’t want union trouble.
I spent some time in unions myself.
It’s too bad there is nothing these people won’t do that is not crooked. Only one question need be asked. Do you want to associate with the likes of them or the truth speakers?
Must read. Great write-up, AW.
Did that protester say that all those people were from the union, or is it possible some of them came independently?
BTTT
As a general rule, the Democrats pay workers to put up their campaign signs, while the Republicans generally get volunteers to do it.
Also, the leftists frequently get mental patients and disoriented seniors from nursing homes to participate in their rallies and protests. This came to light a few years back when one of them was left behind in D.C. He (or she?) missed the bus back to the home and didn’t really know where he was from or what he was doing here. He’d just gotten on the bus with the rest of the patients and held the sign and did what he was told.
Excellent point. Excellent post.
I would add that people of character also don't have to get paid for everything they do. Sometimes they do things out of the goodness of their heart, because they believe in it, because it is the right thing to do.
I, along with many FReepers, opposed allowing the Mexican truckers into America on it's own irrational reasoning by the Bush administration, not needing to know or giving a chit any position taken by the AFL-CIO.
The I guess you weren’t the intended target, since I clearly began with “I hope the FReepers who support the AFL-CIO...” now were you?
Just Wow!
Great catch.
This needs some followup.
"The worker's remarks clearly revealed that standing outside the Walter Reed Army Medical Center with anti-war signs wasn't a personal choice, but a workplace commitment demanded by a union representative."
I hope that in time, someone can talk to this individual with a promise of anonymity and get the whole story. The who, what, where, when, and why.
Great job DC chapter, keeping up the good fight. God bless each of you and especially those remarkable soldiers who put it on the line for us day in, day out. We are so blessed. Just wish the other side had the capacity to see it and appreciate it.
Unions are just another arm of the democrat party.
